Leaders, plural. More than one.

Reggie, Wayne, LeRoy, Eugene to name a few and some would even say Sean and Santana had their leader moments.

Aside from Reggie and maybe LeRoy... Eugene, Sean, Newsome, Santana, etc. were viewed similarly going into '96 as many of the current roster is. They certainly had some pro-bowl talent, some leaders, some intimidators, but winning was what elevated their status.

My college coach used to say "potential means you haven't done it yet." Clay, Woody, Raji, Cullen, Collins, Tramon, etc. IMO have the capactiy and potential to prove to be great leaders and players. Just because they haven't YET doesn't mean they can't or won't.

Leaders are IMO overrated. What the 1996 team had was a bunch of people who didn't need leaders pushing them. A bunch of players committed to the team' excellence by doing what they had to do. People whose actions spoke louder than their words.

See, I have a different take on that team when one looks at that coaching staff.. that was a hell of a staff put together by Holmgren.. then you look at the strong gameday on field "voices" on both sides of the ball.. if things started to go off script.. you could rest assured that one of them, be it White, Dotson, Jones or Butler on defense.. or Bag of Doughnuts, Brett, or Bennett on offense were going to step up and rally that group.

That or a player like Simmons would try an rip the opposition in half. 😉 Think Amp Lee.. lol.
