DEFENSIVE PASSER RATING UPDATE
The top pass defenses include all the usual suspects: Tennessee (at No. 1, natch), Baltimore, Tampa, Chicago, Pittsburgh.

No surprises there.

But there is one interloper: the Packers sit at No. 2 in Defensive Passer Rating, wedged like cheddar in between the Titans and Ravens. Green Bay has surrendered an unusually high number of TD passes (nine), but they've also hauled in more picks (13) than any other team in football through Week 7.

The Pack holds opposing passers to just 51.7 percent completions, tops in the NFL (much better than the Titans), and their 5.93 YPA against is among the league's best, too. It all adds up to a stingy 59.5 defensive passer rating, quite an achievement in this day and age of high-powered passing attacks.

The Green Bay D has generated a lot of criticism for its run defense (4.89 YPA, 19th). But the pass defense clearly keeps the Pack in the hunt, and it's one reason why you shouldn't count them out come December and January: cracking down on opposing passing attacks is a sure-fire way to pick up wintry victories in the NFL.

Just ask the 2007 Giants, who shut down the NFL's three best passing attacks in the playoffs and rode this effort all the way to a ticker tape parade in Manhattan.

Here are the QB's the Packers have played against this season:

1. Tarvaris Jackson (horrible, now benched)
2. Jon Kitna (below average)
3. Tony Romo (one of the better QB's in the league)
4. Brian Griese (journeyman)
5. Matt Ryan (a rookie, but a very good one)
6. Charlie Frye (third stringer)
7. Peyton Manning (one of the best in the league)

Not a very impressive list overall. But what really gives me hope is the way they played against Manning. That has to give them loads of confidence heading into the bye week.

i agree bozz. you ask anyone to name the top 3 QBs in the league and i guarentee you we have played 2 of the guys they named. Romo and Peyton.

our pass defense is so good that 5 if the 7 QBs we have played this season arent starting any more 🙂 thats a stupid stat i know but i would say we had a hand in having kitna and jackson put on the bench.

I think 3 of those QB's you could arguably put them in the top 5-7 in the league this year.

Just imagine how good they will be when we get a pass rush.

Who was the DB who jumped like 15 feet in the air to deflect a pass? (I was drunk and can't remember)

I think your talking about Collins. A WR got behind Blackmon and Collins got over there to block a TD. Collins seemed disappointed saying it wasn't a prefect angle. He thought if he would of had a prefect angle he could of got the pick.

But LeRoy Butler was very impressed with that play saying he's not sure if he could make that play. Butler also said Collins didn't waste a second getting over there he left as soon as it started to show. He said most S would of waited longer before taking the break for it (which is bad). Also basically said Collins should be a Pro Bowler and he's unselfish because he didn't go for the pick because if it missed it would of been a TD but rather he just knocked it away. And then Butler took a shot at Sharper saying he's selfish because he would of went for big play that has the most chance of failing and leading to a TD.

I disagree with Butler. Sharper would just run into blackmon so the ball can bounce off both of them to the receiver :thumbleft:
