All I know is I will be searching back thru the threads from before the season started and how alot of people were saying we have such great depth at DL and LB. We had crap for depth then and we really have crap for depth now. But hey we have an excuse for losing when it starts and thats the injuries got us, not the gm or HC feeling they have plenty of depth and best players around.

We don't have to worry about who we will have to cut for Bigby and Harris to come back at this rate.

I don't think anyone has ever felt satisfied with our depth at DL or in the secondary. LB, many of us did, and I still do think our depth is pretty good, but we shall see.

They're starters for a reason, though. If you lose them, you're downgrading no matter how good your depth is, and you can't expect the status quo. The competency of a GM and coach in this scenario should be judged by how well they mimize the losses, how small the gap in the downgrade is, how you adjust to cover for weaknesses on the field, etc.

Well, I guess we are going to see if zombie is right about Barnett having been underappreciated by many of us. šŸ™‚

I'd like for you to find some threads where people say that we're very deep at NT and DE after Jolly got suspended. NT's been shallow since the start, especially since our back-up NT is a starting DE.

I don't think that anyone said that we have good depth at OLB, either. It's been one of our most shallow positions for the last 1,5 years. You can never have enough good pass rushers.

And really, at ILB we are pretty deep, aren't we? We have, for two starting spots, an All-pro in Barnett, a very solid player in Hawk, a coverage specialist and very, very high-end back-up in Chillar and a promising player who can step in when needed in Bishop.

I can't think of a team that has 5 ILBs on the roster. I can't think of a team that has a starting caliber ILB 4th on their depth chart. At ILB, we do have good depth, it's just that multiple injuries at one spot can be devastating. And I think that we'll still be able to pick it up somewhat decently.

In the backers.. we still have a solid corps ready to go.. color me not worried there.. I have that much confidence in that group.

DL depth you speak of before the season.. not everyone was proclaiming great depth.. and some even questioned why we were keeping some on the roster in camp.. But Neal looked the part last week.. and CJ or Wynn may step in and contribute yet this season.. CJ has what a couple NFL games under his belt.

RB.. that was an interesting gamble in the 53 makeup.. rolling with two backs.. now it looks foolish. But at that point.. Grant hadn't much time and Jackson was, according to some, better. Waiting for a couple weeks for Starks didn't seem unrealistic at that point..

The only real concern there is we did the same thing with KGB a couple seasons ago.. banked on him coming off the PUP and contributing.. and it fell flat.. banking on Starks, Bigby and even the warrior Harris to definitely come off the PUP and contribute is a risk.. on in which, IMO, you either look brilliant or look stupid for. It is that much of a risk.

The team is on the brink of being out 2 starting LBers, and 3 S at this time (Chillar and Collins being close to out)

No team in the NFL has the depth to handle that. It is foolish to think a team can have 53 starters.

If we could just hold on until Harris and Bigby come back ... if we can pull off the 3 next games we should be very happy.

IMO the injuries in defense don't worry me to much, having those 2 back would just feel like losing only one LB (key player)

Now the only thing im worried is the run game.

I, for one, would like to see more Bishop.

WAIT TIL NEXT YEAR ! ! ! Just kidding. What's really hurting us is that the injuries are year ending types. We can possibly weather Harrell with Neal, Burnnett with Bigby, and Barnett with Bishop. But the season is long and any more injuries could put us in dire straits. Grant out of the running game is going to have the worst effect.
