Just a 3rd?

Something is odd here....

The Pats--one of the most crafty teams only gets a 3rd? What do they know? or do they just not care

Yeah that's something I said earlier, that maybe they just don't care enough to drive the price up... even though I think the Vikings are desperate enough to pay any price the Patriots made.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Patriots send their 1st from '11 for Vincent Jackson and use Oaklands 1st they got from Seymour as their first over all selection.

Man, this deal better not go through. More I think about it Moss's biggest and possibly only weakness is motivation and laziness. If this deal goes through there are three factors that will motivate him:

1) He still seems to love Minny and the Vikings
2) He will want to prove the Pats wrong and the media wrong
3) He has man-love for Favre and won't want to disappoint him

Please God, if your a Packer fan kill this.

Also, I agree, anyone saying this is desperate or whatever is being a bit homer-ish because at the end of the day you got one of the top 5 WRs in the league combined with a top 5 RB in the league, etc. Plus Rice coming back. They fixed a big problem with their offense if this gets done, I don't understand how this isn't anything but good news for them and bad news for us.

Sure it's desperate, but who gives a damn? They have a deep hole in their roster and their fixing it. That is what GOOD management does. They fix their holes.

I think your right Zero if the Pats pull that off, they are scary smart. Vincent Jackson on that team would be nuts for them, thats an upgrade from a de-motivated Moss.

You disagree in the broad scope that this might be the last year for this team to make a serious run?

You disagree that they shouldn't go for it with the more than likely critical changes facing them next season?

The Vikings aren't the best run team in the league.. they have fenced themselves in past this season.. but this moves does make a ton of sense for them for this year.. you know the last realistic year for them to make a run with the pieces they have.

he just is pissed he didn't get a deal and started pushing Billy buttons.. so they dumped him. .

I think we are seriously underestimating the Patriots if we think they're dumping Moss primarily for personal reasons. They haven't won three rings by waging personal vendettas against disgruntled players.

All of this handwringing from many of the same people who predicted that Cutler would make the Bears a force to be reckoned with and that Favre's return this year would make the Vikings an offensive juggernaut. People are way too afraid of Favre. Put him on the ground a few times and it wouldn't matter if he had Andre Johnson, Randy Moss, and Terrell Owens catching passes -- he won't be all that effective.

I find this interesting ... Randy Moss did NOT get a new contract as of now. He's going to play on his current deal that expires after this season. If he's one and done with the Vikings and goes elsewhere, that'd be good.

I think you are missing the point, they are a better team now than they were yesterday. Replacing Hank Baskett with Randy Moss is an upgrade. I still don't understand how other coaches would be excited about facing the Vikings with Moss. I don't think people are "handwringing", I think its just realistic to take the view that this is good news for them and bad news for us. I'd rather face the Vikings with Hank Baskett as the #3 receiver.

So much hate on Favre by the way, lol, love it, makes life fun, keep on truckin'.

beast (8-Aug) : It's a new rule, so it's not clear, but my understanding was that they could be IR'd at any time
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : *had to be IRed at 53
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : beast, I thought the designate return from IR players had to be IR at cutdowns to 53, not before
beast (8-Aug) : It's a brand new rule, either last season or this season, prior, all pre-season IRs were done for the season
beast (8-Aug) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
beast (8-Aug) : I think the NFL recently changed the IR rules, so maybe the season might not be over for OL Glover.
Zero2Cool (8-Aug) : Packers star Howton, first NFLPA prez, dies at 95 😔
dfosterf (8-Aug) : Apparently it is too complicated for several to follow your simple instructions, but I digress

Mucky Tundra (6-Aug) : Travis Glover placed on IR; seasons over for him

dfosterf (5-Aug) : I'm going to call that a good move.
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : Packers sign CB Corey Ballentine
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : I'm not sure how to kill the draft order just yet so it's not so confusing.
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : *to be able
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : and because it's not a dynasty league (which makes a lot more sense to be ability to trade picks)
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : Oh I know; I was just exploring and it blew my mind that you could trade picks because of the whole reordering thing
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : Zero, I think I preferred my offer: your 1st for my 15th rounder
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : Keep in mind, we do a draft reorder once all members locked in
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : You can have my 12th Rd for your 2nd round
