While I am not implying this is the Lion's of the last few years, I have to laugh when I read the posts about "how good Detroit is". Last I checked they are 0-4. They are not as pathetic as they have been. They have some nice core players. But all and all they have a long way to go before they come a quality team.

Step 1 is to win at least one game.

This is probably stupid, but I think we should run John Kuhn primarily in the first half and Brandon Jackson in the second half.

Let Kuhn punish the defense.
Let Jackson dance around them.

Yes I understand all of that. I am not saying they are as poor as Buffalo but a quarter of the way through the season, they still haven't won a game. Their defense is ranked 26th overall. They have a ways to go before they become a quality team.

What is the difference between a good team and poor team? Just look at yesterday's game. Detroit (statistically) outplayed GB in nearly every offensive category and yet they never led in the game. They moved up and down the field and when they got close to the end zone they were either made mistakes or were forced by the defense to settle for FG's.

I am saying they are still a poor team that has a long way to go. They at least are moving in the right direction. San Fran seems to have taken a step backwards.

I agree with you.

On any given Sunday....

The Lions brought their A offense and they gave us a good scare. They came close to an upset.

I'm more along the lines of "let's not take them so lightly again" than "we suck because we should have beaten them by more points."

Zero.. has an attitude thread going.. IMO.. we are not playing with much intensity and fire.. kind of a staple under Mike McCarthy.

We seem to need to be backed into a corner before we wake up and kick ass. That worries me.

We've received a lot of flack last year because we never started fast.

Now we're starting fast, but after that, we struggle. McCarthy needs to be more aggressive with his offensive playcalling.

As far as the run game. I'm not concerned about having 100 yards a game, but I just want somebody who can lengthen drives and have our defense rest.

Our defense is great, but if you leave them out there all day, they're going to get exposed. We need to sustain drives, convert third downs, and stop other teams on third down.

I have to give the Lions some credit - they played like they wanted the win bad. Detroit is a team that should be winning some games if they can learn to close a game. All in all, not a bad effort for a young team.

The Packers had their hands full yesterday without a doubt. If not for some flubbed plays on special teams and a couple defensive errors, they looked decent. I would have liked to see some more passing, and done a little more aggressively. As for the running game, I was glad to see more running that actually gained some yardage. We need more explosive runs to really make a defense fear us on the ground, and open up the passing game more. Nothing more overwhelming to a defense than a team that can attack effectively on the ground AND in the air.
