I'm beginning to like Morgan Barnett. Yes, he got burned. Yes, at times he looked slow. But he's a rookie and thrown into a position where he thought he would be a backup.

So far, he's been making up for his rookie mistakes by big plays. He has fight. I like that. I'm going to be keeping an eye on him this season and I think he might be TT's surprise pick of '10.

We saw two different offensive teams. First half sluggish. What we as fans don't know is that Mike McCarthy during half-time let out a lot of profanities at high volume (as has been reported by a few Packers) and in the second half, it seemed to work. Completely different offensive team. Our 2nd half offense is what we saw in the preseason. If we see it for the rest of the season, we're bringing home the Lombardi. :thumbright:

another random thought:

even sloppier than the packers play in the 2nd quarter was mccarthy's challenge. jones was obviously out of bounds catching the football and everybody saw it on the first replay. only mccarthy (or the guy that advised him to throw the flag) didn't.

It was Aaron Rodgers who lobbied for McCarthy to throw the challenge flag. So we can file this one under Rodgers' sluggish start.

Is it just me, or does Barnett seem a half-step too slow? A couple of times today I saw him chasing and I expected him to catch-up and stop the play for a few yard gains. Well he did not, and the opposing player seemed to run past him. McGinn pointed out that Barnett seemed a step slow in TC this year compared to the past, and while I did not notice in pre-season I seem to be seeing it in the regular season.

Getting back to this, here's what Cliff Christl and Eric Baranczyk said about Barnett after the Buffalo game: "But Barnett looks like hes playing faster than last year now that hes a year removed from the knee injury."

So maybe it is just you. These articles by Christl and Baranczyk are always worth reading, by the way. For example, they think Korey Hall and John Kuhn are better blockers than Quinn Johnson, and they explain why, which I think is pretty interesting. Here's the article:

Nick Barnett had 9 tackles (including assists). Give him 16 games of 9 tackles and he's up there with that guy from SF. Willis, that's his name.

Doesn't matter how he looks. The results are what matters. He consistently gets lots of tackles.

beast (30-Jan) : College Coaches wouldn't want that publicly, as it would hurt recruiting and they might not get the job.
beast (30-Jan) : I thought they were supposed to publicly announce them, at least the NFL ones. Hafley was from college, so I believe different rules.
Mucky Tundra (30-Jan) : Who knows who they're interviewing? I mean, nobody knew about Hafley and then out of nowhere he was hired
beast (30-Jan) : I wonder what's taking so long with hiring a DL coach, 2 of the 3 known to interview have already been hired elsewhere.

beast (23-Jan) : I wonder why the Jets always hire defensive coaches to be head coach
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season
