Sure wouldn't mind seeing Bulaga and Lang. Let the vets rest and get healthy. And stay healthy.
As for RB, guess I'm just waiting for Starks at this point. Maybe he can add a spark. I like Bjack's abilities, but he just seems too tentative. What do the rules say about waiving injured players? Wouldn't mind seeing them resign Porter, but they have to wait a certain number of weeks.

No one said release Jackson now.

Zero simply stated that he is not worth re-signing in 2011.

As a 2nd round running back, I have to call him a bust for our team.

That is a range draft-choice-wise... that position... you should be getting some top-notch production.

MY position is that he is a bust FOR US.

He might be good somewhere else---I personally doubt it--- but I would submit that it will take PREMIER talent to run effectively and consistently behind OUR offensive line---personnel and scheme factored in...

... as presently constituted.... and change is on the horizon--- I just want to see the "sunrise" sooner than many, apparently.
Pack93z is 100% correct....

WE need a legitimate "ground threat" in order to make this team a reliable powerhouse offensively, and I don't give a rat's ass about trends towards the passing game...that is statistical hind-sight off-season bullshit analysis.

When a Julius Peppers or a Jared Allen is rearing back and teeing off, your basic run of the mill "trend" is about as worthwhile as my opinion on the field. :tongue3:

I agree with coltonja; well said.

B-Jack is a good 3rd-down back that has the potential to be a great one (relative to other players in that role right now, NOT relative those who have ever played a snap in the NFL).

Too valuable to not resign. Also, as non-stop mentioned, Ted's preference in investing in home-grown talent mean it is highly unlikely B-Jack would not be a Packer again if his contract expired.

Even then, df, I am not so sure McCarthy will be keen to consistently call running plays. Or if he does, they may well be run-pass options.

I heard from Leroy Butler yesterday during his video that Grant averaged something like 17 carries last year.

McCarthy is too pass happy, and I would hate to have a top-notch RB going to waste because I doubt MM is interested in establishing the Packers as an elite running team, despite his lip service to running the ball.

I don't think we need an elite running game, we need a legitimate one.

What I said was- I think we need an elite RB to run behind this (I didn't say it, but implied it) SHIT BOX line.

I really think a NON shit box line is presently on our bench, some friggin' where, in some combo of personnel...

I want to start by getting Cliffy and Colledge off the field.

That looks "do-able" to me.

Let's see if Jackson can run to the left with those two off the field, for example.

I remain in constant fear of the blind-side hit to Aaron, and without something legitimate on the ground---especially to that left side, the anxiety only increases for me. Jackson IS a pretty decent screen pass threat, so I am not discounting that as a possibility as well.

Ryan Grant
Brandon Jackson
John Kuhn

They all have at least one thing in common as rushers...

a longest run of 18 yards, for each of them.

The next longest run is 17, by Rodgers.

At this rate, Rodgers could conceivably be this team's leading rusher by the end of the season.

The thing though is Grant can bust loose for 60+ yard runs. The other two won't. Kuhn will be caught from behind. Jackson will do something stupid and get tackled.

I'm wishing Jackson proves me wrong. I really want to like him, especially because he's our #1 RB right now and I want us to go 18-1 this year. So far though, the drop off has been significant, as I predicted. I really wish I was wrong in this case.

Jackson is a very good 3rd down back and I want to see him back next year as our 3rd down back. A #1 RB he is not and may never be. Please Jackson, prove me wrong.
