I spent some time Monday night watching the left side of the line. In the end, I couldn't tell, but I wondered more than once if one of the reasons Colledge is failing is that he's having to cover too much for his neighbor's errors.

I haven't been a fan of Colledge for several years now. But I wonder if he may now be our third best starter.

Man, is that scary or what?

Oh, yes, re: Foster's shoutout...

I still think the line of the future is Lang/Sitton/Wells-or-someone-undetermined/Bulaga/Newhouse.

And I still expect to see that line full-time before the season is done.

Our Oline is going to suck ass against the Vikings as well. I am pleased that Rodgers is getting rid of the ball quickly to negate this. I would like to see more slant plays too.

I'm with Foster. Let's put Buluga and Lang in there. Tausch needs to be held responsible for the 3 penalties last week, and I agree with Foster that Cliffy's not a solid run blocker. Solid pass blocker, yes. But aging fast.

As for Jackson, I told you all that you'll miss Grant. I also said Grant was a top 10 RB. So what if he's boring? He's effective. He's consistently good for 4.4 yards a carry and 1200+ yards a season while never fumbling the ball. You people who were anti-Grant were like women - don't appreciate what you have until you lose it.

Jackson can't carry the running game. What he can do though is catch screens and I don't see why we aren't throwing 3 to 4 screens a game to Jackson.

Play to your strengths. Grant is out for the year. Have Kuhn pound up the middle. Kuhn isn't going to get us long runs, but he will pound the poor schmuck who tackles him. And throw some screens to Jackson. I'd rather have Kuhn as our starting RB and Jackson as our 3rd down back as I like Jackson's blocking/screens.

Funny how last year people wanted McCarthy to play Jackson over Grant and now people are complaining because he IS playing him.

The offensive line is not the problem in the running game. The problem is Brandon Jackson looks like potentially a great contestant on Dancing with the Stars rather than a good NFL RB.

He's productive as a receiver out of the backfield and he picks up the blitz but he is not a No. 1 RB. He'd struggle behind the Dallas Cowboys offensive line of the 1990s.

He missed a ton of holes in the Buffalo game. There were cutbacks there. Monday night was more about attempts but even when he did get the ball, he doesn't anticipate what to do.

heh. Brandon Jackson is not a starting running back. If we want two starting running backs on our team we're gonna have to sink a lot of money into that depth. However, Brandon Jackson as a backup and 3rd down back IS a good running back. For me, saying he should be released now is like putting Crosby at punter and saying, "heck this guy can't kick get him outta here."

Jackson is playing a role he has never played and should never play. But releasing him at a position he has done so well on these past few years is not the answer, imo.
