After watching him play and then re-watching the game last night. The guy worries me. I love his reckless abandon that he plays with, but man, he's gonna get hurt.

The guy just throws his body around like its made out of rubber. There were a few hits that I didn't think the guy he hit would get up, and also worried that he wouldn't get up either.

I'd also like it if he and the rest of our secondary would wrap up when they hit instead of just lowering a shoulder.

Rouse can rest his body after Bigby comes back because he'll be sitting on the bench

As for Rouse hitting to hard, isn't that what he's suppose to do as the SS?

I also wish the DB would wrap up more and strip the ball...

I never said he shouldn't hit hard. I'm just saying he could be a little wiser about his angles. 🙂

Thoughts?

He's a hell of a football player.

He's a hitter, let him hit.

Jesus christ people... I never said for him to freaking talk people to a knee instead of him hitting them.

I jus say that he hes very reckless when he tries to blow people up. Its fun to watch, I just worry that he's going to hurt himself and be on the bench nursing an injury.

To be honest...no. I was always told to wrap up, put your helmet on the ball, and hit them as hard as you can. Then again I was a DT which I think might make a difference, because the DL doesn't usually pick how hard your hit'em you just hit'em and get them down.

I never said he shouldn't hit hard. I'm just saying he could be a little wiser about his angles. :)

I've been complaining about Rouse angles. Rouse problems seem to be mental mistakes and not physical problems. He needs to take better angles and wrap up and he would be a lot better.

But where is the line between hitting to hard and not hitting hard enough?

He does need to wrap up, he's not like Bigby where all of his blow up go to the ground.

All I am saying is the dude needs to be wiser when he hits people. I never said to hit less, hit softer or any of that garbage.

Hit the shit out of people has ALWAYS been my motto. Football is a game amongst men! Not kids. You hit as hard as you can.

What I am saying that ya'all seem to miss even tho I've said it more than once is to hit smarter. Use better angles and wrap up when you hit!

I don't know about him. He seems like a ballhawk, but at times he seems way out of position giving away huge plays (Lions game). He's still young, but he could definitely develop into a legit starter.

Yeah he does great things but he isn't Collins, not yet anyways. He doesn't start if Bigby is out and the reasons you stated are why. They are mistakes that your starters do not make as much if at all.

Tackling has evolved over the years, most CB's or even just DB's never really wrap up and tackle, they kinda hit the knees or go a lot lower.

As far as Rouse, I guess you want him to not slam into guys and have more of a tackle approach. I know what you mean, there were a couple times where he hit the ball carrier with his side and other weird ways. But if hes not getting hurt, and thats how he plays, then I'm happy.

I like Rouse. Great range and good ball skills, but he's not as good as Collins or Bigby in my opinion.

He's a great backup and will probably end up starting some day for some team or maybe the Packers if they can't extend Bigby and Collins.

The guy is big, and he knows how to play physical football.

That being said, he's still got a long way before he reaches his true potential. He takes a lot of stupid angles in coverage, and until he learns how to play the position effectively, he can't progress much as a player.

He has to take advantage of his size and use it to get in the way of opposing passer's passing lanes. He can be a huge disruption to smaller receivers relying on route-running ability, so if he can work on that--he has the potential to be not just great... but elite.

The Packers can't start 3 safeties, but it doesn't hurt having 3 good ones.

i agree you shouldnt take angles that can hurt your body learn to wrap up and bring the guy down you see players where they hit hard but then they wind up hurting somthing because of how they went after the player but he is improving just like others seems there are a few players that need to remember to wrap up excpecually in the run game

I think it's a new trend around the NFL. Defensive Backs are being taught to get low and take out their legs because the ball handler can't go anywhere without them. If they were to wrap up there is a good chance that they get ran over or make the tackle but give up 5 extra yards. I don't exactly agree with the whole new philosophy going around with DBack coaches, but it seems to be the way it's going.

As you and others have already said, his issue is that he gets himself out of position too often (exception: that pick 6 on Manning, he played that to perfection). That causes the funky angles he ends up taking much of the time. But, since he's a freak of nature he can mostly make up for that with his speed and aggressiveness - that's where you get those crazy tackles, he's not in the right position to wrap up and tackle w/ sound fundamentals.

However, the kid's only a second-year player, so he's got time to fix the issues with his game, and he's such a sick specimen that he's only going to get better. Which will leave us in a very interesting situation having 3 safeties who are all good enough to be starting. A good problem for now, but down the road there's going to be a tough choice to make.
