Yes, he has a lot of tackles, but do not most teams have an ILB with about 100 tackles?

11 out of 32

NFL.com shows (even thought tackles aren't a stat) 12 ILB had over 100 tackles from 11 different teams and Barnett was one of them. That was for '09.

ER....I'm confused as to where you are looking, Kevin.

I looked here: nfl.com tackles page

By my count, in 2009 regular season, Barnett ranked 17th among NFL ILB/MLB in unassisted tackles (which, I think, is what the "total" column represents). And 21st in total of tackles and assists (the "comb" column).

I'm not sure this is evidence for anything beyond a claim that Barnett is, well, about average for inside backers.

More ILB/MLB stats for you: (all from the same place at NFL.com)

Barnett
17th in "total" with 82
21st in "comb" with 105

#32 in "total": Bart Scott, AJ Hawk, and Andra Davis, each with 60.
#32 in "comb": , Hunter Hillemeyer with 90

Maybe you're confused because you said ILB, but now you're throwing in MLB's as well. Pretty convenient.

well you also used 32 teams as your reference and 32 teams do not have an ILB

Yeah, our LBs suck. That is why our D was ranked so low last year.

I said it was out of 32 teams? I thought I said "11 out of 32". That was wrong, it was out of 36. As in, 36 players had 100 or more tackles and 11 of them were ILB from different teams.

My two brain cells embarrass me once again.

I'm reading Silvermans column "32 Questions" and under the Packers he's asking the question "does Thomspon and the Packer nation still feel it's not worth trading a 2nd round pick for Lynch?

Second round pick?

No way the Bills get a 2nd for him from anybody let alone Thompson.

Yes. 2nd round is TT's favorite round:
05 - Nick Collins, Terrance Murphy
06 - D Colledge, Gregorious
07 - B Jack
08 - Jordy, Brohm (ok, we'll forget that one), Pat Lee
09 - Traded up to get CM3
10 - Mike Neal

Lynch is no CM3 so no way Ted Thompson gives away his 2nd.

By the way, I read that column too. We're #2 behind the Saints in his power rankings. I always enjoy reading Silver, even when I blatantly disagree with him. He's a good writer who lives and breathes sports.

People like Silverman analyze football through the lens of fantasy football stats. And with that said his assessment is even worse considering. Who in a fantasy league would give up a 2nd round pick for a tier 3 at best RB. Ludicrous speed, GO!
