Doesnt this sound very familiar to the Ken Rutggers type thing? Wasnt he the starter but as season went on knew he just wouldnt make it and got replaced and they went on to win the SB?

Or am I not recalling it right?

Hopefully we can give him time to heal so we can still have depth behind Bulaga. I don't want to lose that vetran presence especially with a rookie starter.

Jakest3r, I believe it was a 3 year deal that could be voided to one or two years due to option bonuses (or something like that).

I believe it was based on incentives, as far as starting and playing time. Something like that.
The thing with Reuttgers is that his body was breaking down. I suspect he would have just retired the previous offseason if they weren't so heavily favored to win the Superbowl. There was really just no way he was going to make it though that season.
He also wrote some sort of book too, that he promoted there at the end. Some kind of inspirational shit, iirc.

Even if Clifton starts stinking it up and can't stay healthy and Bulaga becomes the second coming, ZERO knock on Cliffy. He's been a very important part of this team for a long time and I hope that if he DOES get permanently benched, he doesn't feel that his past seasons weren't appreciated.

We NEED to win a super bowl with him on the team. He and Tausch deserve it.

whoever is better at protecting Rodgers deserves the job. period. i wouldn't be surprised if they tried Clifton again, and if he fails? Bulaga.

I agree with Twinkiegorilla.

Looks like PFT's chiming in.

Yeah, I recall hearing it being referred to as three contracts of one-year seven million dollars a year.

I think both Clifton and Tausher deals are front loaded a lot in that first year. Were both three year deals as well?

Green Bay - Probably the biggest lingering question after the Packers' impressive 34-7 victory over the Buffalo Bills on Sunday is what the Packers will do at left tackle going forward.

Interesting. I thought the biggest lingering question may be the running game.

I don't see Clifton hanging it up mid season. Even if he is injured and can't play a significant amount, I still think he will stay with the team all season. Maybe the coaching staff puts in him on IR in order to free up a roster spot but he doesn't not walk away from the team.
