Did you mean to write "whereas Vick is the better runner"? That's the only way I can make sense out of that last paragraph.

I've never used stats to show that Vick is not a great QB. He's a very different kind of player, so you can't expect his passing stats to be great. He won a lot of games for the Falcons, I've always given him credit for that, but he never seemed like a threat to win a championship. He plays such a loose style of football that his luck always runs out sooner or later. And you're right about the injuries. Accuracy is the other big factor that you mentioned. He makes some great throws, but he's way too erratic. Accuracy is crucial in the NFL.

As I said in the other thread, I would never want him to be my team's QB, but I absolutely hate playing against him.

Oops. I really need an editor.

I don't hate playing against him. He doesn't run up the score (no pun intended) as much as other QBs.

If you score 21 points, you'll usually beat a Michael Vick team.

You usually need to score more than 21 points to beat Drew Brees, Brett Favre, Tom Brady, or Peyton Manning, that's fo shizzle.

Why is this so hard? Vick is a good QB when he's healthy, and a poor passer. Why define the entire quarterback position on passing alone, instead of the sum of his abilities and what he brings to the position, and how that helps his team?

He's a runner that happens to know how to throw a football.

Dude just single-handedly scared the living shit out of every sane Packer fan.

Bad week to pronounce him a bad QB, imo. I don't know if Zombie is right or wrong going forward, but when an opposing QB does what he did to my defense, I'm not about to declare that he isn't any good.

He's good at making me drink more beer, I'll give him that. :tongue3:

He's not a bad passer. It's just that he can be inconsistent, and he has zero touch to throw over defenders, etc. When it comes to throwing lasers to receivers, he actually isn't that bad.

I must admit that I did have to laugh on an Eagles forum where a poster compared Vick's performance to a young McNabb. Yeah but without the QB smarts and making the difficult passes of course. Vick has an incredible amount of talent, but give the defensive coordinators enough time and they will solve the Eagles offence. We were caught unprepared, come week 3 or 4 most teams will not with Vick under center.

NFP-Matt Bowen-Game planning Vick

On a sidenote, I scarfed Vick in ff. SERIOUSLY entertaining starting him over Tom Brady this week..well, semi-seriously, or semi-something. I just CAN'T pull the trigger on that, but will not be surprised if I regret not having done so.

I cut McNabb and benched Eli Manning in favor of Vick. I would start Eli but Vick has a more favorable matchup.

I've always hated watching Vick play football. He's an incredible talent in a lot of ways and when he's accurate (rarely) he's deadly because he's so difficult to stop. I hate watching him though, because it's like he breaks the game. You sit down expecting to see some football and then Vick goes out on the field and it becomes this other thing. It it weren't for his off the field issues and his apparent lack of focus on football he might have been a revolutionary player in the history of the NFL. As it is, it seems that his is but an interesting footnote in the history of QBs.
