Favre is never blasted for being a diva? Really? Seriously?

No. I just don't think it's a double standard because of the circumstances at hand.

Theory: Favre being at camp (whether his shoulder or ankle is healthy or not) shortens his season. If the goal is to play 19 games, then giving your 41 year old grandfather of a QB a break by not enforcing training camp attendance is a very realistic option.

When T.O. skipped camp, he was in his prime. Was (and is) far more athletic and is younger than Favre. Training camp would have NOT taken the toll on T.O's body as it would on Favre's.

Again, it's all about circumstance. This isn't high school or college ball.

It's not about the players position. It's about the age.

Manning: Should rightfully be expected to show up at TC.

Favre: Shouldn't make a difference.

Why? Because Favre'll fall apart earlier in the year, because he's earned his 'stripes' and because he's already proven year after year that he doesn't need TC to help him perform at an NFL QB level.

I like it when he doesn't show up for their camp. He has slow starts when he does that. Like last year when he had 110 and 155 yards against the 2 worst teams in the league. Fortunatly they had AP to pull it out for them.

This year they don't start with the 2 worst teams in the league. I bet it hurts.
I want to go out like my Grandpa did. Peacefully in his sleep.
Not screaming in terror like his passengers.

Because QB's get hit an awful lot in training camp, right?

He could have only proven that if he had skipped out on camp previously, otherwise, it was an unknown.

There's no question about it, no legit debate on this, he (and all players) should attend camp, period. Whether they participate or not, they should be there. It's a team game, with teammates. That's how I felt when he was our QB, but then again, I don't kiss just anyone's ass. Ahem, 😛

Oh, I get it. You're trying to say it's not okay for an injured player to skip out on camp. Weren't they at last in attendance though? I remember seeing clips of them on the sideline. I can't say I found that with Brett.

Many players find a little injury to skip camp. Brett's no different. Hell, he'll even retire to avoid it, as we've seen.

I'm not sure why this is such a bitter subject. Diva doesn't mean 'worst person ever' or anything. Brett is who he is, we accepted it long ago, why can't you? Instead, you make up silly comments that don't really make sense to the situation, to me, that is.

Yay, another article to bash Favre.

Racism? "It looked as though Strahan would retire after the 2006 season when he did not report to Giants training camp and missed the entire preseason, but the 14-year veteran opted to return for one final year." Last time I checked Strahan was not white and he did not get bashed.

And seriously? Favre didn't get bashed for missing training camp? WTF is everyone reading?

http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/football/2010/08/19/2010-08-19_minnesota_vikings_quarterback_brett_favres_selfish_act_of_leading_on_teams_teamm.html

CBS: Read columns by Prisco, Freeman and Ratto

Yahoo: MJD Blog

NBC: Rodney Harrison's rants on the topic

ESPN: Bruschi, Eastbrook, Page 2, etc.

"The Washington Post compared Favre to Camille, a film classic about a woman in failing health who is, for the lack of a better term, a drama queen.

What else do you want? Honestly, you want him to be stabbed in the chest and bleed slowly to death to punish him for missing training camp?

I don't understand, a lot I read and see about Favre is negative. Everyone has this random hate-on for the guy so they see two or three examples of someone praising Favre and they go nuts about how Favre is a media darling (even if the praising is justified).

He is NOT a media darling, I bet if you google news Favre, you will see more negative than positive articles. For every time you find someone praising Favre, you can find someone calling him a drama queen or a diva. I really do not see this free pass that people think exists.

OMG! I just watched something and someone didn't call Favre a diva! Who cares, may be the person cares about Football and thinks Favre is entertaining, a great QB and good for the game. Big f'n deal. It doesn't mean they don't think he's a diva or that their are bias or anything.

Also, the guy IS a drama queen and a diva. Why is that such a surprise. WHO CARES. Move on, its football time. Why do you need him to crucified any more than he already has? What do you get?

I agree with RedSox. He's not a media darling. For everyone like Madden who slobbers over him, there's someone like MJD who wants him to fail.

Plus, read any public message board. Fans hate the guy with a passion.

I still wear a Packers 4 jersey and get flack when I wear it. I'm seeing a lot more Favre hate than Favre love nowadays. Sorry folks, my Sterling Sharpe jersey has fallen apart and is no longer wearable and until I get around to buy a 12 or an 80, I'm wearing my 4.

Favre is a prima donna. So what? So is General Patton, one of the greatest Americans ever. So is Ozzy Osbourne, who retires every year then comes out of retirement when Sharon and the kids start driving him nuts. Shit, we should have let Patton run the European theater. He would have saved thousands of lives. But he wasn't politically correct.

So am I, and I have no remorse about it. Maybe that's why I like Favre, and also like Tom Brady. Peyton Manning on the other hand is a whiny bitch and I hate him. Big difference between one of them and a prima donna. I don't think non-prima donnas understand.
