Cheesey hit on something there. I remeber the preseason talk before 1996 and everyone had the Packers winning.
I wondered at the time what brought all this on. We had a good team but there always seems to be something that goes wrong. But we had Don Bebee when Robert Brooks went out for the season.
Then again in 2007 nobody was picking the Packers and things went well.
The predictions are difficult because usually a SuperBowl team is nearly injury free like the Saints last year.
If injuries occur they happen where your team has good depth.
A Superbowl team gets timely big plays from special teams and timely turnovers by the defense.
I'm optimistic because:
The Packers roster is relatively deep compared to other teams
The Packers schedule is relatively soft until the PUP players return.
One of the best offenses in the NFL they can keep up with anybody.
Underwood, Burnett, Shields will be learning and improving during the early softer schedule (six weeks of regular season is better than 5 weeks or training camp).
A lot can happen between now and January but it helps to start with better chances.
