Boy, looking at the Colts and the Packers it's incredible how they matchup.

The Colts don't run it very well. Last in the league in YPG.

The Colts don't stop the run very well. Over 150 yards a game.

The Colts can obviously throw it well and have a great WR group.

The Colts are effective in YPG allowed throught the air.

Defenses are getting to Manning a little more than in the past having been sacked 9 times in 5 games vs Rodgers 8 sacks in 6 games.

The Colts are hurting and several guys may not play this week.

You could replace the Colts with the Packers in all of the above.

Normally I would say it's so close with the numbers that the edge goes to the Packers being this a home game but I am going with the Pack pulling the game out more because the Colts win/loss record playing away on grass has shown where they are vulnerable.


On the other hand another home loss for us at this point in the season would regress any momentum going into the break and we face some pretty solid teams afterwards.

With the Titans and Jaguars still ahead with two against the Bears it would not bode well for us if we already have four losses. If that were the case we would have to probably go 2-2 in the above games at the LEAST and hopefully not lose to anyone else.

Pivotal BIG game Sunday.

Seems like THE team for Grant to break-out to this weekend. And they don't have Addai which is, as much as I hate injuries, a positive for us as to actually winning the game.

Let's just hope the defense can keep up with Peyton and, if we're leading, we won't do silly things like running it 6 times in a row for about 5 yards. We all saw how that worked out for the Texans last week.

I am a little nervous about this game only because it seems that Manning has his rythme back. However, I think our defense is starting to pick up their game as well. This definitely won't be an easy game. Hopefully the fans give us the edge....and the grass.

Colts picked up McCargo at DE. I know game circumstances dictated some of it, but the Colt held the #2 rushing offense in the league to 50 yards last week. The Colts are getting healthy and rounding into form. I think they win 31-17.

That trade was nixed -- McCargo didn't pass the physical, so he's back in Buffalo. So he won't be there to help them.

The 51 yards by allowed by Indy against Baltimore is one of those stats where the numbers don't reflect the quality of play.

Baltimore with the ball in the first quarter:

Drive One: INT by Flacco
Drive Two: 3 and out
Drive three: fumbled, recovered, punt
Drive four: Fumble, Colts ball

End of first quarter score: 17-0. Guess who's winning?

Now you've got a run-first team with no rythm at all and getting your butt kicked away from home.

That first quarter was the mother of silver platters for Indy's rush defense and about the only thing this tells me is if we screw up that bad and end up down 17-0 in the first quarter we will probably not gain a lot of yards on the ground that day.

That should be worth the 10 points right there.

I think you will see another game similar to last Sunday..we will run the ball at them until either we bleed or they do.. control the clock and keep our defense fresh.. I think maybe MM and the staff are starting to get a pulse of this team..

Considering that I really believe that if the Packers can play their game to a high level they've got every chance to beat the Colts, this is more than sufficient for me. It's the NFL, and whoever prepares the best and wants it the most will win -- just like the Browns pasted the Giants on Monday, even though nobody gave them a chance to even keep that game close.

Except if you watched the game, you saw the Colts D-line playing some of their best football all season and stuffing the run. Drives 2, 3, and 4 reflect how well the Colts were playing D before they jumped out to the huge lead. Where in the 2.7 yards per carry we got last week does that translate into us dominating this next game on the ground? When have we shown that ability at all in six weeks of play? I'd love to be wrong, but I'm just not seeing it.

Question (because I don't know - not being a smartass): Was McGahee playing in that game? Their RB depth is a good 2-3 steps behind him ability-wise, IMO.

Also, we didn't dominate in YPC last week, but we set up manageable 3rd down conversions and controlled TOP. That's exactly what we need to do this week, as well.

This is a misrepresentation of the facts. Willis McGahee ran 8 times in that game before he went out with an injury and stayed out for the rest of the game. Hardly enough carries to get a RB like McGahee going.

McGahee played until halfway through the third quarter. By that point it was 31-0, and Indy had completely shut down the Ravens' run game. The official game book stats are here:

McGahee carried the ball 8 times and Rice six and Mclain two for the only carries by the RB's in that game for Baltimore.

That's only about 20 less carries between these two you would expect and reflective of how quickly they were taken out of the picture in this game.

The only reason they are one of the "top" rushing teams in the first place is because they run it more than any other team in the league at 36 per game. They only average 3.7 ypc which, like us, is towards the low end of the league.

How many games do you need to see where one team gets up a bunch and the opponents running stats are horrible? For me, if this game was like 10 to 10 at the end of the third quarter and Indy held them to 51 yards running for an entire game I would be much more impressed.
