Two things will determine how far this team goes:
1. Offensive line.
2. Defensive front seven.

Before the first preseason I was worried about #1 (surprise, surprise 🙂 ), and not worried about #2. Now I'm a small bit less worried about #1, and a bit more worried about #2.

OL I won't be surprised if we see Tausch/Sitton/Wells/Bulaga/Newhouse before the end of the year.
DL I'm more concerned with depth for the rotation than anything else.

But for now, I'm still waiting until October before deciding to go toward giddiness or bitchiness.

I am concerned that Hughes looks worse than terrible.. he looks worthless as a DE. He got pancaked by a TE. It is clear to me he is not going to help the team one bit this year. Maybe in the future..



Jerry Hughes sucks right now. That's putting it nicely. I'm not saying he won't develop into an effective player, but there is nothing in his immediate future. He's not even a rotation player. He has zero ability to play the run, and his pass-rushing is suspect at best. Hughes is not ready for the NFL right now. This is going to be a redshirt year for him. Hopefully he shows up ready next year. If not, Polian's first-round draft history picks up a bit of a blemish. But way too early to go there yet.
