This video was from 2008 but I have not heard that things have improved since then.

Well according to some theories and Al Gore.. the earth is attempting to do just that. ;)

Paybacks.

Now on the topic.. just how hard is it not to dump your trash in the environment.

Leave that to the waste management types after they have collected it from us.. and eventually some other living planet will have to deal with it. ;)

We are such a wasteful consuming species.

When we achieve inter-planetary traveling, we can dump all our shit in Mars and no one will care and everyone is happy. Or, we could just dump it all in space, there's plenty of space in there amirite?

I'll be honest. Again.

First thing I thought of when I saw all those little tiny pieces of plastic? Gee, nature seems to be pretty good at breaking down things after all.

Yeah its pretty weird that a little fishy has pieces of plastic in it.

Or that a bird mistakes a round bottle cap for food. What do you expect from a bird if not a bird brain?

Just because something is plastic and ugly doesn't make it toxic. It just makes it plastic and ugly, rather than nonplastic and ugly like, say a slug or a paraitic wasp.

And why should we care about the plankton/plastic ratio. Now if there's less plankton, I understand that could be a problem. But what if it's just the same amount of plankton playing around in water with some extra [strike]goldfish bowl toys [/strike] pieces of plastic?

Sorry, Diane, but the only thing that made sense in your mini-rant was the glance you gave us of you fondling your knee.

I hate shitty journalism. And I especially hate shitty, emotion-pulling journalism on science topics.

What can I say. I'm an asshole.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Yeah.. amazing, eh?

As sad as seeing our trash in the ocean is.. I think we really need to focus our efforts on other things first. But that's just me.

No, I'd prefer to see just how far we can shove our own dicks up our asses before everything falls apart. It's like watching a plane crash in slow motion. And it's kind of amusing really, that the smarter we get as a species the more we screw shit up.

I agree about the priorities though. There really is no need to focus on major environmental issues when we have more pressing matters like gay marriage, our first lady's vacation, and expertly trained illegal immigrants coming over to steal our best jobs.
