Aside: I'm a bit confused about the ambulance. Again, because I've never had one of the truly awful ones perhaps, I wasn't aware there was a possibility of death-by-migraine. Only thing I can think of is "choking on vomit", because the worst migraines can lead to that.

But I don't profess expertise on all the problems of migraines, only with those I've had.

Wanting to die. Yes. That feeling I know well enough.

But the ambulance sounds to me like something other than migraines might be involved. Heat stroke maybe. Concussion. Something "worse" than migraines.

(Again, by "worse" here, I only mean in terms of "life-threatening-ness".) If there is worse pain than a migraine, or more debilitating of performance on ANY job, I don't want to know what it is.)

Rourke, other doctor types...can you help us out here? How could migraines necessitate an ambulance?

Yes, it is possible to burst a vessel in the brain during a migraine. The ambulance may have been a precautionary measure. If he's having a severe migraine, the ambulance can provide basic treatment -- IVs, pain meds -- that wouldn't be available in the team van. Plus it's a way to shield him from the light. I wouldn't want to drive a guy in my backseat who was screaming every time he opened his eyes.

The article does say he collapsed, however, so it's also possible he had a sudden drop in blood pressure causing unconsciousness (syncope), in which case the ambulance would be standard procedure.

What i was thinking wasn't about a lawsuit, but you'd think that a guy in his position would have all the resources there is used to figure out his problem. He has access to the best doctors and treatment in the world.
