Two things will determine how far this team goes:
1. Offensive line.
2. Defensive front seven.

Before the first preseason I was worried about #1 (surprise, surprise πŸ™‚ ), and not worried about #2. Now I'm a small bit less worried about #1, and a bit more worried about #2.

OL I won't be surprised if we see Tausch/Sitton/Wells/Bulaga/Newhouse before the end of the year.
DL I'm more concerned with depth for the rotation than anything else.

But for now, I'm still waiting until October before deciding to go toward giddiness or bitchiness.

I recall someone being heavy into drafting an OLB. Something a retired marine and college professor did not want any part off.

2nd round - Charles Brown.

I could've been great.

Oline has been improved.. and MM proved in the second half of the season that this team can win without a dominate offensive line.

The 96 Packers also proved that notion.. a great QB, an effective gameplan and a solid set of running backs can help mask a average offensive line.

But it also proved one other thing.. you have to have a defense.

Think back to 96.. they had a solid secondary and a DC that could manufacture pressure.. until we solidify the safety spots and communication in the backend.. we need a once in the century pass rush to cover that nonsense..

Not disagreeing that we need more pressure up front.. and guys that can effectively blitz the QB and get there.. but we can't have guys getting wide open in the secondary if one to three beats of the snap.. lol.

There are definitely some good points made in this article and then there are some outlandish points.

1. Aaron Rodgers IS an elite QB, he doesn't appear to be.
2. The Vikings are surely not the the same team with Jackson starting a quarterback. With Jackson starting I see a 9-7 record.
3. Packers secondary (healthy) is better than the Vikings secondary (healthy)...its the defensive front that makes the Vikings secondary look like they are better.
4. Vikings receivers are no where NEAR as good as the Packers receivers.

I do agree that...

1. Our offensive line can still be a concern due to Clifton and Tauscher not being reliable for a whole season.
2. Linebacker injuries should be a concern, but we do have depth at linebacker. People want to see Bishop and Chillar get more time anyways.
3. The loss of Jolly WILL hurt our defensive front.
4. Special teams really are not-so-special....

This article talked WAY TOO MUCH about the preseason game. Sad that they used the week 1 preseason to draw comparisons between the Packers and Vikings.

I put $50 on the Pack to win the superbowl about two weeks ago, and I'm still happy with that decision.

Last year we were 25-1 but this year, I'm assuming we won't be any better than 5-1.

I like to think it's strictly the defensive front seven. I have all the confidence in the world in our Oline, barring injuries. I'm beginning to be very concerned about our pass rush though.
