I said he did not have one fumble last season running the ball. His fumble can on a reception against the Bengals. Maybe you should stop being so sensative. I wasnt trying to insult them, I just find it funny how they think a rookie would do better than Grant.

I don't think many really believe a rookie would be better than Ryan Grant. At least no rookie on our team now, lol.

It's been the same thing on these boards for the last two seasons. Last year it was Tyrell Sutton who ran a slow 4.5 and this year it appears to be Quinn Porter. It's also been sexy to pick Kregg Lumpkin to take over as well. Does that mean the fan base is not intelligent? No, it means they're hoping for more production from the RB position that Grant provides.

We've been proven that we're gonna pass and gonna be unstoppable passing, therefore the running back position just needs to get 4 yards when needed and not turn the ball over. That means, no fumbles on running OR receiving, in case anyone wants to be ... technical.

Regarding the fumble against the Bengals, who really sits back an says "yeah we were tied at 21 all near their 40 yard line when Grant fumbled, but hey it was not a running fumble, it was a receiving fumble so we should cut him some slack."

Fact is, Grant fumbled and the Packers didn't recover it.

Lol things really getting heated up here.
But to be honest, Twink had a point about just showing up and ragging on a couple long time posters, but then again I agree the AP points have no real value, I've been reading this site forever, but rarely post. Got to give brandon the head nod for the fumble fact though, I was going to mention the fumbleless comment but you would of burned me for the fumble on reception thing lol.

All in all i'm happy with the outcome, the by far biggest fact is we escaped healthy. I cringe ever time I see a rotoworld post where people are done for the season already (Dizon (DET), Holt (PATS), Tate (TEX), rookie Johnson (Titans), etc). Plus Grant said if it was a reg season game he would of liked to stay in, so i'm sure he'll sit next week for a precaution but will be fine in due time.

Need I say anything about Rodgers? Looked mid season form, and I thought he made a point to show his decision making and release time were both cut way down.

Starting to get excited about Bulaga, hopefully for a next season start but I wouldn't be to surprised to see him bump Daryn out for the LG spot.

Burnett looks like a he fits, hard to believe that was his first ever start in the NFL (even thought it was preseason), I definitely think this kid is going to be our biggest rookie class impact.

I would like to see them try and get Quarless involved as much as possible. I can't see them taking 4 TE's and would like to get a late rounder for Lee if possible, his cap hit isn't worth his backup value. I know he has no experience, but on paper he should be a better blocker then both JF and DLee in no time, and has a similar skill set to JF's coming out of college.

JMO, Cheers,
Jake

haha what are you trying to one up me or something? Did I say anything about giving Grant a break on that fumble because it wasn't a rushing attepmt? You were trying to call me out on my comment about Grant not having a fumble last year rushing the ball and you failed. No need to start bringing up all that useless information about when it happened.

Thoughts:

No serious injuries = good.

The game = absolutely meaningless.

I know there will be those that say, "I know its only preseason, but..."

No, there is no , "but."

Its preseason. It means absolutely nothing. The end. :)

i agree with u david...preseason means really little...

yesterday game showed that our 2nd and 3rd string are really good...why dont trade som of them...i think some of them have some trade values...

last year we had great preseason games in every aspect of the game...hopefully we are keeping the best for real games.

i do like lumpkin and i hope he will be the number 3...if he can stay far from injuries he is really good

As everyone said our offense looked awesome (omitting Grant) he loves to get hurt before the season starts anyways. It does not matter training camp or preseason, but damn AROD was a beast on the drive after the fumble. Little worries about if our guys can stop the opposing team, I mean it's preseason but show a little dominance. I am sure these things will be fixed before the season starts against Philly.

After reading this trainwreck, it is hard to say something unique and profound.

I like Quinn Johnson. His inclusion into a play may produce an air of predictability as he can't catch for shit, but he is a mack truck. His blocking was the difference maker between 2 and 5/6 yards yesterday. If we cut a fullback, i'd rather it be Hall.

There.

Now kiss me.

My thoughts on the Browns game - Only 1 injury which appears to be minor = victory.

Ryan Grant has been our primary ballcarrier for two and a half years, and then he becomes the subject of major criticism after a preseason game in which he carries the ball three times. Funny.

Just for the record, on the first carry he fumbled the ball when a defensive lineman reached in and swatted it as he was coming through the hole. On the second carry he gained four or five yards. On the third carry there was no hole and he took a shot to the head and left the game. Not really a lot to go by there.

I think people who hate Ryan Grant would be better off starting their very own Ryan Grant hate thread rather than bringing their agenda to the postgame thread, considering how little Grant actually played in the game.
