Kind of neat that there's a Brett drama-escapade and I'm not in the dead center. I think this might a PackersHome.com first.

With that said, I'm gonna pull rank and power trip admin on you all and say

SHUT THE FUCK UP.

k thanks pumpkin. bye now.

And no Grave, we just can't all get along, until Brett goes into the hall as a Packer. Then his framed poster comes back out of my garage rafters, then we can all be brothers again. Until then, all you guys with your purple Packer avatars are my enemy. I will not cheer for Brett in purple. I wish nothing but bad things for him, as I have any other QB of the Vikings.

You cheated on your taxes. Does that prove that you commited a murder? What does one have to do with the other?

"Nonstopdrivel" wrote:

Your argument is not only specious, it's entirely irrelevant, because no one here is talking about proof. We merely said that one who has been proven to lie could conceivably have lied about other issues. No one was using evidence of lying in another instance as proof of lying here.

My point is that just because someone lied about one thing doesnt mean they lied 2 years ago about another thing or vice versa.

If I told a friend of mine that I was busy and had to work so I couldn't hang out today. Does that mean i lied about not having sex with his girlfriend? Being a liar about one thing doesn't make you a liar about other things. The only people who believe that are butt hurt packer fans or members of the media who are tired of seeing Favre get so much attention.

I remember arguing in law school against the way courts have extended Sullivan.

Sullivan wasn't a "public figure". He was a "public official."

There's a big difference. The free speech protection is a protection against state action. Sullivan was, IIRC, a local government official in Montgomery, Alabama at the height of the 60s civil rights movement. Public officials, because they are backed up with the socially-legitimated use of coercion (i.e., the "police power"), have a power to chill speech and action (e.g. assembly) that ordinary people do not have.

Just because someone is famous doesn't give him or her the same power.

Unfortunately, my argument is not accepted by the courts. Rourke gets the current law pretty much correct.

Suggesting, again, that the law is an ass.

Oh, well.

And as I have said, repeatedly and explicitly, no one here is saying it does. We're only saying that a person who has shown a pattern of deception could in fact be lying in another situation as well.

Nowhere have I said I agree with the courts' decisions. In fact, I think I've stated before that I find the rationale troubling. But the fact remains that this is what the current state of the law is, and arguing otherwise is irrelevant. If we want to change the situation, we're going to have to pass laws explicitly according "public figures" the same degree of freedom the rest of us enjoy. I don't think it will ever happen, because I think the media lobby would protest vociferously against any such proposal.

Mucky Tundra (19-Feb) : Joey seems so forgettable compared to his brother for some reason
Zero2Cool (19-Feb) : NFL informed teams today that the 2025 salary cap will be roughly $277.5M-$281.5M
Zero2Cool (19-Feb) : Los Angeles Chargers are likely to release DE Joey Bosa this off-season as a cap casualty, per league source.
Zero2Cool (18-Feb) : If the exploit is not fixed, we'll see tons of "50 top free agents, 50 perfect NFL team fits: We picked where each should sign in March" lo
Zero2Cool (18-Feb) : Issue should be solved, database cleaned and held strong working / meeting. Boom!
Zero2Cool (18-Feb) : It should be halted now.
Mucky Tundra (18-Feb) : usually spambots are trying to get traffic to shady websites filled with spyware; the two links being spammed were to the Packers website
Mucky Tundra (18-Feb) : you know when you put it that way combined with the links it was spamming (to the official Packers website)
Zero2Cool (18-Feb) : Yep. You can do that with holding down ENTER on a command in Console of browser
Mucky Tundra (18-Feb) : even with the rapid fire posts?
Zero2Cool (18-Feb) : I'm not certain it's a bot.
Mucky Tundra (18-Feb) : I've got to go to work soon which is a pity because I'm enthralled by this battle between the bot and Zero
