GREEN BAY, Wis. - Packers second-year linebacker Clay Matthews earned a trip to the Pro Bowl and set a team rookie record for sacks last season. After each one of those sacks he'd celebrate by pointing to a fictional watch.

But this year, he wants to change it up.

Matthews is looking for inspiration from the fans for his new dance

Clay had this to say to FOX 11 on Monday. "I think I want something new this year. Yeah, I don't know what we're going with. Jared Allen is roping the calf, Trent Cole is a big bow hunter so he's got the archer. There are lots of sack dances out there, so I'm going to have to think of something quickly. I could use some help so any suggestions would be perfect for a great sack dance. I would really like to patent one and use it for years to come."

I was just looking around the website and I found this.

Walk away

Act as if it's an every down occurrence. One sure way to get into a QB's head.

I second the happy Gilmore drive, and if he ever gets a sack to secure the win really late, he can pull out the hockey stick putter for the dagger.

I'm pretty sure that won't get into the QBs head more than any other celebration.

I hope he comes up with a good celebration and sticks with it.

sigh.

I'd rather he spent his time figuring out another way to get to the quarterback.

Sounds like he's been spending too much time hanging out with Nick Barnett.

lol i was thinking the same thing... when i seen this on tv last night i thought about what Shawn says ... that he's a one trick pony and needs to learn more ways to get to the QB.

I think he will do that. Coming in as a 165 lb. freshman at USC and getting to where he is today took a lot of "figure'in", dedication, perseverance, and hard work.

I say since he looks like Thor he should do like a two handed hammer sledge kind of motion. Sort of the reverse of the Grave Digger.

And if you guys haven't listened to his video interviews, he has been working a lot at improving his skills at rushing the passer. He has been specifically asking players to come at him in certain ways that will reflect how teams may try to neutralize his success from last year. So I think it's just fine that he spends a few moments goofing.

I have to agree with Flep and do the Barry Sanders TD celebration. Act like you have done it before and walk away. Hell even be nice and pick the qb up and pat him on the butt and whisper to him that you will be back there on the next play.

(edit) has anyone noticed our young guys are starting to worry about the wrong things? Finley wants the offense changed for him instead of learnig to block and now Matthews is worrying about a sack dance instead of figuring out on new ways of getting to the qb.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

That's one of the stupidest points a man can make. If I was doing something as awesome as playing in the NFL, got a sack, I sure as hell wouldn't settle for just walking away. Not that you should consume time in figuring out a good celebration, but if you just walk away, you seem like a guy who doesn't enjoy life in any way, doing things millions of people dream of doing and don't even seem to like it.
