IMO, if you have a gifted athlete, who really excels @ something, like finnley does receiving, I would exploit that talent as much as possible.

I'd try to get J-Finn in as many stacked WR OR DBL te sets as possible
So if you meet me Have some courtesy, Have some sympathy, and some taste
Use all your well-learned politesse, Or I'll lay your soul to waste

He has to be a legit blocker, if nothing more than to keep the defense honest. If it's a run play, block. It'd be like Grant or Jackson only going half-speed on passing plays. It just doesn't work.

I don't find his opinions to be much of an issue. I really don't.

We need players with backbone. This is a different Finley than the rookie we drafted years ago. He hinted that the running game isn't up to par with the passing game, but do you see him saying Aaron Rodgers' passes are too far behind him that he isn't going to reach for them? No.

He's not saying "Get me the ball" or "pay me what I'm worth." He's just saying, "Use me the right way."

Finley is a well-built and athletic specimen. He's in the mold of Vernon Davis, who is a whole lot better of a blocker than Finley. (The guy can own Patrick Willis.) We already know Davis has 4.3 speed.

He'll block. That's fine. But we all know he's a playmaker, and it's best to use the talent we have to our advantage.

And McCarthy WILL do that. Remember when Brandon Jackson was our starting RB? Favre threw the ball 50 times a game.

After thinking about it, I see where he is coming from. He has a good point. Look at the playoff game. If we used him more like we did in that game, we would win a LOT of games.

I don't think he meant anything by it. He was probably just thinking out loud. Something he hasn't learned not to do yet.

We did win a lot of games last year. We happened to lose the game where this supposed strategy is being highlighted, so why would that be offered as any insight into how he should be used? Maybe if he could block better we could have dominated the game at a different tempo and actually won.

If he wants to be a WR, then be a WR. Otherwise put the nose to the grind and work at being better in areas that you obvioiusly are lacking. We know he can make plays, fine, we know he CAN'T block like we want. So work on that, he'll get the ball just fine, count wins, not personal statistics.

This is now 2 weeks in a row we have a thread where Finley has patted his own back, I see a baby TO as I called him in the last thread. I hate to say it but this is only the beginning of alot of problems. Wasn't Finley the one that was making comments about the ball not being thrown well enough for him his rookie year?

It would be interesting to see how the TE poll would turn out if Finley keeps opening his trap and trying to change the offense.

As I said before Shut the hell up and play football and do what is asked of you. In my opinion he is dropping on my list of top TEs.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

I'm not going to be a douche and call him the next Owens, that's plain moronic to put it politely. It bugs me when people start spewing over dramatic comparisons, good or bad. Let him pave his own damn path.

I am going to say ... I liked his confidence the first time around, but I think enough is enough. He had a good season, but that doesn't mean squat anymore. No one cares. It's time to learn to tell the reporters more respectful things. Focus more on team comments, not me comments.

At least, I think he'd be better served doing that.

Some of you are being extremely sensitive here. Especially since none of Finley's actions have caused an ACTUAL problem as of yet but you guys just act like he is setting the team on fire week after week.

Yep and a few outlandish partially out of context comments are apparently worthy of insulting him enough to call him the next Owens. Not the positive mention either. lol

Ahahah, that was funny. Really. You're dropping him on your TE list because he's talking. He's caused no schism, no altercations, and has been healthy and doing work all off-season. But you drop him because he isn't allowed to speak his own mind. Come on.
