I hope Burnett can hold the job down, stay healthy and be a consistent force back there so we dont even have to worry about Bigby.

Atari Bigby will have ankle surgery on Friday
Posted by Mike Florio on August 5, 2010 12:14 PM ET
Packers safety Atari Bigby missed the Packers' entire offseason program as he resisted signing his restricted free agency tender. When he signed the tender last week and showed up, he was asked to take a conditioning test. While doing so, he injured an ankle that previously had been surgically repaired.

As it turns out, he'll be having surgery again. (As best we can tell, the looming surgery was first reported by Greg Bedard of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.)

A league source tells us that, on Friday, Dr. Robert Anderson will perform an arthroscopic procedure on Bigby's ankle. Bigby is expected to miss a few weeks.

A couple of years ago, Bigby was emerging as one of the top young safeties in the game. Since then, injuries have prevented him from fulfilling his potential.

Clever. Hold out the entire offseason, sign a multi-million-dollar tender, get hurt your very first day back, sit out the season on injured reserve, and collect every penny. It's tantamount to fraud.

Not as scandalous as having several babies out of wedlock and sucking off the government teat. I guess if Bigby never did heal properly, he kind of got back at Uncle Ted for lowballing him. I moved on in the third round of the draft anyway. It wouldn' t be a bad idea to sign a veteran safety after the last cuts of training camp, or keep Bush around for another year.

If it's not scandalous, please pay me over $3 million this year not to play. At times I experience severe ankle pain too. :D

Getting himself hurt on the conditioning test. Pussy.

At least he's cheaper pussy than Haynesworth. And that's how I like my poon tang, on the cheap.

The worst part is Anthony Smith isn't a free agent.

Hopefully Will Blackmon steps up and doesn't get hurt.

I've always meant to tell you how much I like your avatar.

Bigby just got his severence package. Maybe we can trade one of our overpaid linebackers for a good safety.

beast (8-Jan) : Though if they're legitimately trying to re-sign MM, then it makes sense.
beast (8-Jan) : Jerry Jones still hasn't put Jimmy Johnson in the Ring of Honor, but he's in the NFL's Hall of Fame, Jones is petty
Mucky Tundra (8-Jan) : Unless the Cowboys are planning an extension, seems kinda petty

Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : That might be it for the Vikings
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : Oh so the refs do know what intentional grounding is
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : what the hell was that Goff?! Not much pressure and he just air mails it to Harrison
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : They really need to to get rid of the auto first down for illegal contact
Martha Careful (6-Jan) : watching the Vikings and Lions it's understandable why they swept the Packers. So much better product
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : Even when GB got pressure he was throwing darts; vs no pressure on that last pass he just air mails an open guy
Zero2Cool (6-Jan) : didn't have guys in his face ... pressure makes difference
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : Where was this Darnold vs GB?
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : BALL DON'T LIE
