Heard Jordy tore it up last night in GB.. if he and Jones get it rolling can you imagine this offense when healthy.

I know, I've said something similair to this last year, but how scary could our offense be if we do get that true receiving back in this offense, while Jordy starts showing why he was an early 2nd rounder two years ago.

Grant will obviously be the RB in our base formation, but just think of the possibilities in some sub packages.

Good luck trying to cover that in a nickel package with a LB on both Finley and Porter.

Or they switch to a dime formation and you just let Porter run it.

Next to that, you can audible into a 5-wide set, move back into the shotgun with those exact same guys on the field.

Of course, Porter hasn't even made the roster yet (although he's looking great in TC) and Nelson still has to keep this up once the season starts, but it would give us some great possibilities.

As you said in another thread, I see Porter being this year's Sutton. Whom would we cut to make room for him? Jackson? I don't see it happening, though I've been calling for him to be cut for quite a while now.

I think Jackson is entrenched as the third-down back. That's a position where the player needs to be assignment-sure, which Jackson is, so I agree that they would not cut him. But possibly either Starks or Porter could be the guy who comes off the bench to replace Grant if he's injured or needs a blow. That would allow Jackson to continue in his role as third-down back, so there would be less disruption to the offense than if he was moved up to Grant's spot.

But Sutton had that one glaring hole in his game. 4.75 speed isn't acceptable for that type a back. He had some acceleration, some burst, but no real speed.

Porter has been great in camp. Starks hasn't been playing. He's out with an injury. Lumpkin's in the mix, but a longshot to make the roster.

Starks was only a 6th round pick. If he gets outperformed by Porter, he could be cut. Jackson is decent, but he's not a lock to make the roster. He hasn't shown a whole lot. Starks was pretty much drafted as a 3rd down guy. Porter has the hands you're looking for in a 3rd down guy.

This one's still pretty open.
