lol thanks guys

I paid the 36 bucks for the credit/background check, but the place doesn't feel like 'home' to me if you know what i mean. its also a second floor and the more i think about having to carry our bikes up an down everyday ... blah ...

Oh, I submitted my application and provided a cover letter for the residence explaining a little about me and my situation. Also told them if it helps making their decision of selecting me easier I'm prepared to pay deposit, plus one, two or three months rent in advance.

They have one application already from an out of state family who hasn't viewed the residence and they are showing it again to three families, or two in a couple hours.

Don't do it! Always go a max of 12mos I usually try to go 9mos just in case. You never know if you're gonna like the place, neighborhood, neighbors, etc... until you settle in. Then if you're happy when it comes time to renew then have at it. That way depending on the housing market in your area you can negotiate a few bucks off your rent with most landlords during the renewal process.
