I'm always curious as to what other people might be reading...so anyone willing to share, please do.
Myself, most of my reading has been doing background reading to help me rewrite my course syllabi, and most of the stuff I'm sure people would be utterly bored by.
But here's a couple I've really been enjoying...
1. Erik Benson, Aviator of Fortune: Lowell Yerex and the Anglo-American Commercial Rivalry, 1931-1946. A fascinating story about the development of air travel in the Caribbean/Central America.
2. Tim Mackintosh-Smith, Travels with a Tangerine: From Morocco to Turkey in the Footsteps of Islam's Greatest Traveler. This is volume 1 in Mackintosh-Smith's three volumes retracing the 75,000 miles that Ibn Battuta traveled over 50 years starting in 1325. What started as a pilgrimage to Mecca took him everywhere from China to Mozambique. Mac-Smith, an exBrit who has lived in Yemen for a couple decades, is a bit of a name dropper (Oxford educated), but its still a fascinating story.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
