I always liked to read. One of my favorite authors is Patrick McManus.
"They shoot canoes, don't they"
"Never sniff a gift fish"
"How i got this way"
And LOTS of others.
"Real ponies don't go OINK" i think is another one.
VERY funny stories! Ifr you like Montana Bob's stories, you will like these.

My girlfriend's second book, rather the rough draft. I get to proofread, 243 pages of A4, single spaced (single-sided =/). And she wanted to double-space it.

Extremely long story short, it's fantasy and she's been looking for an agent. Got her first one published through a small-scale on-demand publisher for cheap.

Cool.

What kind of fantasy? I can't help with the agent part, but I can definitely buy a copy if you let me know how. I read a lot of fantasy, and am always looking for new authors to try.

BTW: stuff submitted to publishers/agents/etc should always be doublespaced. Its easier for them to read.

So your girlfriend was right. šŸ™‚

Been reading The Dark Tower. Currently on book 2.

The Dark Tower series is on my queue.

I'm currently reading The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher. The first 8 books were pretty f***** good. My wife went to Barnes and Noodle the other day to find book 9 for me but it's not there. Dang it.

I had just finished "That's just Kramer" by Ron Kramer, Packer TE from the early 1960's.
I was surprised at how good a book it really was.

Not being much of a reader of much of anything and thus being of no help in narrowing down generes, I asked her.

"Well, it's young adult in the sense that the main characters are mostly teenagers. I'm actually not sure what the sub-genre for this kind of fantasy is. It's not steam or cyberpunk, just 'fantasy' implies high-fantasy...I guess 'modern fantasy with some sci-fi elements'... Paranormal's not really appropriate because that implies exclusivity with warewolves, vampires, maybe some witches, and they're generally not bigger stories. But, I suppose paranormal would be closest."

As for the book, here's a link but she wanted me to note that this is an old draft, since then she's been working on a rewrite for a better contract/publisher.

I think they have excerpts on the website too.

Zero2Cool (27-Jul) : There's a toggle for light/dark theme. Super easy.
dfosterf (27-Jul) : The white background beta was hard to read, especially the quotes
dfosterf (27-Jul) : Hopefully the color scheme remains the same

dfosterf (25-Jul) : It's my one day deal complaint dept. on shareholder meeting day
dfosterf (25-Jul) : Probably a homer access credential intimidation kinda thing
dfosterf (25-Jul) : Meathead "journalists" skip this, concentrating on operational revenue when convenient. They switch when net revenue is more favorable.
dfosterf (25-Jul) : Resulting in an actual drop of net revenue of 12.5%. She is from Minnesota. Just sayin'

dfosterf (25-Jul) : Did Savion Williams run into a goalpost or something?
Mucky Tundra (25-Jul) : also, no bueno when a guy starts getting concussions right off the bat in his career

Mucky Tundra (25-Jul) : @AndyHermanNFL Jordy Nelson out at camp today. No word if he’s in play for one of the two open roster spots ; )
