Clifton, Spits, Wells, Sitton, Tauch
Bulaga, Colledge, EDS, Newhouse, Lang

To be honest, i feel pretty good about this. With the likelyhood that atlest one of these players is injured before the start of the season(as tends to happen with our oline) our options are a lot better than they have been in the past.

Keep all of these guys looked into their positions, and we'll start seeing some consistency. I hope atleast!

I got to agree with you ... I like our oline prospects this year over last years debacle ... arod did hold onto the ball too long the first 1/2 of the season ... the last 1/2 he really worked on the quick release

I think with an O-line that isn't at the bottom of the league for half of the year. Grant would have gotten closer to 5 per. I think they will be better than they were in the second half of last year.

I heard some people say he couldn't break tackles. I think that was because he was getting hit by linemen at the line of scrimmage. If he had better blocking, he would be hitting the defenders with a head of steam and they would be DBs that weigh 200 lbs instead of LBs that weigh 260 or Linemen that weigh 300 plus. If you look at Petersons runs where he runs over people and everbody drools over him, he is running over secondary. You never see him run over someone like Hawk. If we can get Grant hitting the secondary with a head of steam, he is as good as Peterson but only fumbles once every 1250 yards isnstead of once every 198.

oh damn you ... you reminded me of grants running game the first 1/2 of the season.

I sware I was going to punch MM in the mouth if I saw him send grant up the middle again into a big pack of 300 pound dudes ... meanwhile whenever he would send grant to the outside hed appear to run a good 10+ yards ...
It was almost like clockwork; 1st down grant up the middle or just to the left (stopped) again and again and again. 15 running plays later MM sends him to the outside and he hits for 15 then a few plays later again ...

btw I blame that all on MM and a bit on grant and his lack of vision and cut ability.

Maybe the repeated runs up the middle made the ends pinch in and that opened up the big runs outside. He did run better in the second half of games. The pounding up the middle could have acted like body blows in boxing. As far as the season goes, in the first half he only got about 100 yards less than the second half.

Better more consistent blocking will help open some lanes up the middle earlier. Then he can get yards inside until they pinch in the ends and Boom, he breaks a big one. Like AP 2 years ago.

Some of the lack of running may also be a byproduct of the enormous success of the passing game. If you are 60 percent converting 3rd down by the pass, why risk running it and give up the statistical advantage.

Bigger, stronger, more agressive type linemen in the middle will help. Spitz could be a start. Newhouse could help in a couple of years. I like Wells, but it is a position that if we could draft a high level prospect the has a legitmate chance to be a Pro Bowler could make a big difference. And they can usually be gotten late in the first round. With Bulaga, Spitz, Lang, and Sitton it looks like we should have 4 of the five OL positions ready for takeover, barring injuries of course.
