Obama must be the worst guy ever. I don't see anyone saying anything good about him. I wonder how he was elected President? I mean, he's such an awful person and apparently there's millions who could run this country better, why didn't we chose one of those million?

I often wonder when people will start taking responsibility and accountability for their own lives, instead of pissing and moaning about the President not doing enough FOR them. America is still one of the better countries to reside in.

Just my thoughts ... I have no facts or supporting evidence.

Oh, yes, and, I know I'm weird, but the fact that Obama is not the first to skip out on the Tomb of the Unkonwn says more about the general quality (or lack thereof) of recent American presidents than it does excuse Obama's not going.

Several have asked whether the Arlington appearance is different from the appearance at some other Memorial Day activity. It's not Arlington that's different, it's the Tomb of the Unknown.

IMNSHO, the Tomb of the Unknown is a different kind of memorial. One that highlights a willingness to serve despite one's anonymity to those being served. When I go to a Memorial Day or similar celebration in my home town, the vets marching in the parade are personally connected to me. So are the people in the cemeteries. I may not know them myself, but my parents or my cousins do. Or I may know their widows or their cousins. At the very least, I'm going to recognize most of their names or recall seeing someone with that name on the street.

But those at the Tomb of the Unknown don't have that connection. No one knows who they were. We only know that they served, they protected, and they died. When a public official goes to the Tomb of Unknown, he or she is making a different statement than merely making another meet-and-greet with little plastic flags and limp handshakes.

And when he fails to make an appearance, he's also making a statement.

The wrong kind.

By illustrating that others have skipped the ceremony I am not trying to condone the choice.

Simply, watching some burn Obama for skipping, I just wanted to make note that others have missed the honor as well. Bush Sr. didn't even pay tribute at all, instead spending it on vacation.

Yes Arlington and the Unnamed are a sacred site and others pale in comparison. There is no argument there..

That said, I understand wanting to be home for this holiday and spending it with family. And being that family is in Chicago I accept that the location of this honoring our military personnel from there.

This thread was burning him as unpatriotic and Un-American.. if some hold that feeling then they must with Regan and the Bush's..

Also.. anyone that didn't take the time to walk a memorial yesterday must be Un-American as well.

AADP...going back to a comment of your on the previous page.

Ummmm...the U.S.A IS the be all and end all in this world. You can choose to embrace or recoil from this notion, but it is fact. Just like any neghborghood or schoolyard, there will be the big kid nobody fucks with...not even the bullies. We are that.

Now, on a geopolitical scale, somebody is going to be top dog...just the way it is. Do you prefer it be the U.S.A., or do you prefer Russia or China and their illustrious history of human rights?

All voids are filled, and nothing resides in a vacuum. If we willingly relinquish our standing as the most powerful and influential nation in the world, as Obama and the left wish, that spot will be filled by someone.

Be careful what you wish for.........

Formo, and the last post by Digs said it all. The reason Obama is "loved" so much by foreign countries is that he has shown the same disdain for America as they have. They hate us because we are powerful, and a great, free country. So yeah....they LOVE the guy. But it's just another reason i don't like him. I think it's a pretty good reason if you ask me.

And as far as the Arizona law, most of the peopole that have demonized it HAVEN'T EVEN READ IT! All it does is state stronger the law we already have! And it's 100% AGAINST racial profiling!
But again, those that attack it just believe what the liberal media SAYS it says, without actually bothering to read the 10 pages themselves to see what it really says. MUCH eaiser to just jump on the "race card band wagon" then to actually research it.
But let someone who jumps the border cause a terrorist attack, and see how fast they would jump on Arizona for not doing enough to protect our borders.

I have just read through most of his 09/2009 speech to the UN.. no where in there does he run down the United States or show his hatred for this country..

So I ask.. where are you gathering this Idea that Obama hates this country?

Example of a quote... He applauds our action and challenges the UN's lack of engagement.. Hardly hatred for America.. but I guess one could misread the quote and think the second paragraph is speaking of the US.

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/09/24/us/politics/24prexy.text.html?_r=1&pagewanted=2

This is what we have already done. But this is just a beginning. Some of our actions have yielded progress. Some have laid the groundwork for progress in the future. But make no mistake: This cannot solely be America's endeavor. Those who used to chastise America for acting alone in the world cannot now stand by and wait for America to solve the world's problems alone. We have sought -- in word and deed -- a new era of engagement with the world. And now is the time for all of us to take our share of responsibility for a global response to global challenges.

Now, if we are honest with ourselves, we need to admit that we are not living up to that responsibility. Consider the course that we're on if we fail to confront the status quo: Extremists sowing terror in pockets of the world; protracted conflicts that grind on and on; genocide; mass atrocities; more nations with nuclear weapons; melting ice caps and ravaged populations; persistent poverty and pandemic disease. I say this not to sow fear, but to state a fact: The magnitude of our challenges has yet to be met by the measure of our actions.

This body was founded on the belief that the nations of the world could solve their problems together. Franklin Roosevelt, who died before he could see his vision for this institution become a reality, put it this way -- and I quote: "The structure of world peace cannot be the work of one man, or one party, or one nation. It cannot be a peace of large nations -- or of small nations. It must be a peace which rests on the cooperative effort of the whole world."

Again.. hammer Obama for his actual mistakes.. not the perceived ones.

Personally I think the Arizona bill is being unfairly debunked by those that think it is racial profiling and I think it is a step in the right direction if we are going to ship all of the illegals out of this country.

Just as I think those distorting the Immigration bill as a way for Obama to candor favor with the minorities in the next election.

We have two choices with illegals in this country as I see it on a simplistic nature.

1) Deport them.

2) Legalize them and have them start contributing to the tax structure in this country. Thus taking away the advantage they have in taking many of the cash jobs from tax paying Americans and in a way punishing those that hire them.

Problem with option one is that we have been so lax for so many years on this subject (this isn't a new issue and both parties have failed in the arena) that we have so many illegals in the country that no matter what avenue you take to identify them all it is going to appear to be some type of profiling effort.

When in reality it is.. Non verses legal residents of this country. And contrary to what is said in the legislation, the only ones going to be subjected to a check are not those the "appear" on the surface to be American. It will be in the minorities that are subjected to the checks. That is reality.

It has taken decades to get to this level of the illegal crisis.. it will take years and much political agendas to get out of it. Another issue that should have been dealt with decades ago.. that now is festering into a national crisis of sorts.

Well....lets see......how about his comments when the Mexican prez was here? Belittling the U.S., like it was WRONG for trying to protect OUR borders?
That's ONE example.
He seems more concerned with how HE looks to foreign countries then he does with protecting AMERICANS.
Thats just plain wrong.
JMO of course. I know thats not "politically correct" to watch out for us, more then to kiss the collective asses of other countries.

Lets really call a spade a spade on this immigration bill in Arizona... it is a political posturing move..

McCain (The Republicans) lost to Obama.. and this bill was pushed through for two reasons. And the timing isn't a coincidence.

1) To protect our borders.

2) It is a bill that counters the Immigration Bill in Washington now.. and it has been calculated that it will draw fire from Obama.. because it directly counters that bill. And it has done just that.

I happen to agree with the bill and disagree with Obama's stance upon it.. but I also can see past it and see the posturing that is taking place.. that it has become a hotbed issue for a reason this summer.

In the end.. it is being used to gather favor by politicians more so than actually fixing a national problem that is getting worse.

Actually, the Feds imigration laws that are not being enforced do not require reasonable cause as spelled out in the AZ bill. Our Fed laws are, in fact, tougher than the AZ law recently enacted.

And yes, cheesey, half the blabber heads in media and the White House have not even read the thing as they were casting aspersions on the govt. and people of AZ. It is reflexive for the left.......

Fucking politics.. what a fucked up system we run.

We spend more time and energy fighting the other party than actually pulling together and fixing the issues that plague this country.

Can't stand that fucking idea of the political parties any longer.. what a crock of shit and waste.

For a country that houses as much intelligence, grit and pride as we do.. we allow this type of fucking nonsense to continue.

I disagree.. we are no longer the mighty as a nation.. we, at heart, are just a bunch of spineless jackasses that play the puppets to the politicians that pull the strings of our party against the other.

\ Much overdue vent off.
