Is Obama really UnAmerican, or he just an American who sees the country differently than the Born on the 4th of July, Chevrolet, and Apple Pie America that we all grew up in?

Obama is a minority and with that comes a much different perspective on the problems of America. And I for one am not qualified to judge him on this because I don't know what it is like to be a minority.

bleh - enough about how obama is black and we should give him the presidency just because he is black and give him all the latitude in the world just because he is black ...

Again he wanted the job as the most important man in the World ... he asked for it and he wanted us to give him our support. With that job comes GREAT responsibility; its not to be taken lightly.

Not based on color creed religion of wtfe - I and many of us americans expect our president to do a damn good job.

I want to see action done - our troops out of a war torn country that we lied about going to war in the first place. Our borders secure because I am tired of seeing/hearing in the news about some illegal killing and raping someone or about how there are so few jobs in the states. I want to see our country become Great again.

The time is now ...

That sounds like a fantastic way to start a war with our neighbor to the south.

The best way to correct your flaws is to accept responsibility for them in the first place.

Obama was talking hard at Arizona for their law. Take what he said in context. He's not talking about the people. He's talking about the lawmakers.

Making broad generalizations like this actually puts you in the exact same category as the people you criticize.

Not at all broad, my friend. There weren't more than a few posters who I was actually referring to. Pointedly, I was referencing three off the top of my head.

I had my opinions on liberalism before I knew what being a liberal was. I didn't then, or now, need Fox News to justify my beliefs. Just FYI.

It's not liberalism I was referring to specifically. It's more about the experiences and harsh realities that those who are not a part of the majority (see white) experience. Fox, amongst others, would have you believe they don't see colour. Which, to those who have devoted much of their lives understanding and celebrating cosmopolitanism, is another way of saying they see everyone as White.

I am not talking specifically about race. It's more broadly the view of being a non-majority that the main-stream (or hegemonic view, for those who are familiar with Gramsci) adopts as the ONLY possibility.

Please correct me if i'm wrong.......shouldn't the leader of the United States talk up the country?
I heard him talk when he was with the Mexican president. The way he talked about Arizona, like they were doing something wrong, made me want to throw up.

See, there is a reason Obama is the most popular US president in other countries to come along recently. It has a lot to do with realizing that America is not the be all. Yes, it has a very important part to play in shaping the Free world, but Obama actually reflected an understanding that mistakes have been made.

That's what I mean by accepting and reproducing a "Fox News" mainstream view: there is only one line of acting / thinking, and anything else is wrong. Um, no. It is not. Instead of understanding Obama on his terms as a person that brings forth different experiences, he is judged based on a supposed unitary standard. That's just wrong, IMO.

As for the Arizona thing, in all honestly there is something wrong with that bill they passed. If you are going to think otherwise, than it's best we agree to disagree.

No, he just appologized to the rest of the world for America being.. America. That's a problem.

And as for the AZ thing, there's something wrong with defending and giving illegal immigrants the same rights as Americans get when they contribute 0 tax dollars to our great 'government'. Yeah, it may target a specific race/ethinic group.. But that's probably because that's the group that's breaking the law. Why do people tend to be a bit nervous on an airplane that has a group of Middle-Eastern Muslim on it? Probably because the last few broadcasted plane hijackings have been performed by... Middle-Eastern Muslims.
