As for Burnett, I don't think its going to be as cut and dry as everyone is talking. IMO there isn't going to be a clear cut #1 and #2.
I think Burnett and Bigby will share time to the situations, obviously Burnett is a speedster with great range and Bigby being not so good in coverage but a great cover.
I think this could be a great complement for Collins, gunna keep both SS's rested, and give Bigby less opportunities to get burned and more to lay a beat down.

I really hope Raji becomes an elite NT in this league. I hope he is mentioned when people talk about the likes of Haloti Ngata. I think he CAN do that, too. He is very quick and strong for his size, and men, that is 337 pounds. When someone can move like he does and still hold his ground, that is a force to be reckoned with.

Would be awesome if Raji becomes an elite NT.

Funny. Looking at our DL, between 3 starting guys, we have almost 1000 pounds.

We were already #1 against the rush last year, with only 1333 yards given up, 5 TDs, and a 3.6 average.

If I'm not mistaken though, this move was more a move to generate more of a pass rush.

I don't see it. I don't think Raji is any better than Pickett at rushing the passer from the nose tackle position, and I don't see how Pickett will be any better than Jolly at rushing the passer from the DE position. In fact, I think he will be not quite as good as Jolly.

This move looks to me like it is mainly to beef up the run defense on early downs. Then Jolly and maybe Neal will take the field on passing downs and Pickett and maybe Raji will go to the sidelines.

I think its lame that bigby and jolly are sitting out - ie look at andre johnson ie he is still practicing and he deservedly should get a really nice contract.

"Dulak" wrote:

Andre Johnson has something like 5 or 6 years left on a 60 million dollar contract, Bigby is a player not under any sort of contract and it is his right to do as he sees fit as far as showing up for OTA's. I'm pretty surprised he hasn't signed his tender and that he isn't there, however those situations have absoletly nothing to do with each other.

I dont agree with the way he's doing it, but you can hardly fault a guy for excersizing one of the very few options he has to try and land a long term contract.

"earthquake" wrote:

ahh makes sense ... ya guess my emotions are getting into it ie I really like bigby on our team and hate to have him go.
Well if barnett can take the job from him ie because he is better then great if not I want to see bigby again next year (love his hits)

What is up with u and using "IE" all the time?

Yeah, Jenkins is probably our best pass rusher from the actual line, so he'll definitely be in there in passing downs. We'll still hopefully be resting him as I think one of our strategies is to keep our DL fresh the whole game.

btw as rock and zombie stated; ya I like jenkins as our best dline passrusher. I dont like wynn thou ie think hes too light to be out there in a 3-4 or even a 2-5 or wtfe they want to call it.

I hope neil does really well and takes over where wynn is at

I think bboystyle's point is that most of the time when you use "i.e.," it is jarring because it actually makes no sense in context. When you write it, try substituting the phrase "that is" (which is what "i.e." means) and see if it sounds right. Most of the time when you use it, it doesn't.

By the way, the abbreviation for "for example" is "e.g.," not "i.e."
