I have read that Coach McCarthy has emphasized the Pass / Pass Defense during the OTA's . Even screen passes from all the QB's to the RBs/FBs . The WR/CB/TE/Safeties have been in the spotlight .

In other news, TJ Lang's expected replacement Jason Spriggs and R-LB Johnathan Calvin may be in trouble for fighting , but I think not .

A lively beginning to the new season . Thank the Lord their were no serious injuries, piece of good luck really .

[cheers]

I heard the reason they concentrate on pass and pass defense is because of limits of being able to have contact and full gear.
The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!

What I read said that screen passes to RBs/HBs were under close observation by Coach McCarthy personally. That tells me that the screen pass will be utilized more this season provided they are up to Game Standards . I like screen plays where linemen are out front blocking. Reminds me of Coach Lombardi's Sweep Play ! 👍

There will be plenty of time for pads and full contact . [smh]

Also I'm sure Spriggs and Calvin both got yelled at... but the problem might be an NFL and NFLPA investigation into the Packers activities.

The reason this concerns is coming up is because the Seahawks were punished for allowing (or maybe better said, not stopping) contact in OTAs... but I believe this is different, because I believe the Seahawks were
• caught multiple times
  • weren't trying to stop the contact (claiming that they weren't forcing the players to do it and some reports suggested they also claimed they weren't encouraging it either, and therefore they were not allowing, or so they argued and lost that arguement)
  • some reports suggested veteran players were complaining to the NFLPA about the coaches encouraging it by questioning the toughness/age/manhood/etc of anyone who wanted to ease up or not go full speed with some contact while carefully sneaking around directly encouraging contact
• I'm don't believe the Packers fit into any of these... because it sounds like they have kept taking players off the field and talking with them whenever they do make clear contact. Or at least that's how I've read it. It was said they took S Josh Jones off the field and gave him a stern talking to after nailing Janis hard. Spriggs said once they got back on the field it was over with... which implies they were taken off the field (a couple different ways to read that, but I was reading it as they did the same thing with them, as they did with Josh Jones)

In addition to practice, aren't players issued Playbooks. Also every thing is filmed and will be reviewed by the coaches . 😁

as much as networks and other outlets are starved for NFL news this time of the year, if there were anything to this it would have been the lead story for the last 24 hour news cycle.

Only place I heard anything about it was the story posted here from the news feed.

    little disruptions are common place.

    Much to do about nothing!!!!

Also with Peppers and Datone the Packers could sorta use an OLB as a pass rushing DL... where with both of them gone, they don't really have the DL guy unless Gibert or Calvin fit that mold (which they bold might).

Of course, I think the Packers also upgraded their DL so the OLB/DL tweener is less needed and at least one person I know has suggested that maybe Lowry could fit that role well... and he might be correct about that.

OTA's are at best about getting a new season organized, bringing in as many of your players as possible, evaluating the overall current roster, and generally getting the new season off to a good start. Playbooks are issued to those that need them. Stretching and physical conditioning are stressed and the basics are the fundamental foundations of the team.

It appears that the Packers have gotten off to a good start this season . 👍
