For whatever the hell a May 17th NFL ranking is worth, here ya go...

Peter King NFL Power Rankings

Well if Peter "I've got my thumb so far up Favre's butt I don't know if I'll ever get it back" King likes the Pack, they must be looking really good for the upcoming season.

I don't trust the pass-rush (where Clay Matthews is the only real thing), and I worry about two of the top three corners coming off ACL surgery, and aging.

Huh?

I guess Will Blackmon must be the #3 corner?

Agree, pack is the class of the nfc and we have beaten the best afc teams recently( PIT was a 1 of 10 fluke)

I don't see us being the class of anything until we win something. We haven't even won a division title in two years.

When we win something important, then we can talk about being the class of something. (and i don't give much credit for division titles now that there's 8 handed out each season)

As of now, we're a one and done playoff caliber team. Until we prove otherwise, that's what we are.

And we will win the Super Bowl this season.

good points zero... the pack haven't really proven much the last 2 years, additionally, Grant and the cbs make me nervous. However, there is no denying this team has a ton of potential, so hopefully they live up to that!

I don't like these rankings. It's nice that he's trying to do something different, but I just can't see it playing out like this at this point.

Minnesota at 13 is crazy. Even without Favre I think that they're better than that. They could get to the play-offs on their running game and defense, alone. Although he does make a good point about the O-line.

Seattle at 11? Even if this is a play-off simulation, rather than a power ranking, I'd go with the 49ers.

What have the Giants done to improve, all of a sudden? I'd take both Dallas and Philly over them right now.

Carolina at 8 seems like a stretch with that awful D-line. Without Peppers, their defense gets even more mediocre than it already was. I bet you can't name one playmaker on that defense.

Miami at 6 is a stretch. Henne hasn't done enough to show that he'll, somehow, become an elite QB all of a sudden. Both of their starting DE/OLBs from last year are gone and Koa Misi isn't going to be a force (in his first year).

And lastly, Green Bay at 1 is pretty crazy right now. The article itsself says it already, we don't have anyone opposite of Matthews, who's a little overrated, anyway. I hope that Brad Jones has bulked up and will show something, but I doubt that very much. The O-line still isn't great. Clifton will be on the ground at some points during the season and Bulaga will have to step in, who's a big unknown and is, I think, still more of a RT, anyway.

We'll see how it plays out, though. There's a few surprises every year and he's bound to have some right.

Rock, you been drinking? ... GB is where they should be 🙂 ... and PK will be hailed a king once the pack takes home the glory this year

I do agree with on the miami part ... put em 10-15
ya carolina no way they are that high ie they be lucky to make the playoffs ...
I really like the jets this year; their team got even better IMO ... I know Ill be betting on the jets this year.
I like the texans ... nice team.
baltimore does look better also this year
...
cant wait ...
btw I do think we take the division this year; especially given our schedule vs the vikes (ie ours looks easier).

1. Green Bay. It's not just the maturation of Aaron Rodgers. It's the carryover from a fluky end to 2009 (the weird playoff loss at Arizona) and the fact that only one team in football -- New Orleans -- had a better point differential than the Pack's plus-164 last year.

I talk about this stat all the time (point differential) and it doesn't get as much credit as it deserves. It's rare for a team to win a SB that's not a #100 team. If you look at our 3 SB teams - we were +246, +123, and +172. Lombardi's best team was +267, and that was only with a 14-game season. Had it been today's 16 game season, we would have been around +300.

You want to not only beat teams, but completely obliterate them. Show them that you are dominant and that they have no place being on the field with you.

Our point differential last year showed that we were better than a 11-5 team. Our D just fell apart in the Playoffs though, but we can score at will.

I strongly think that people who don't see that we're for real will look like fools this year. We may not win the SB, but we'll win at least one Playoff game, barring real bad injuries.

As for the others, Pittsburg and MN are better than #12 and #13. The Steelers found ways to lose last year and this year, they won't be so bad. Favre will be back in purple this year and MN will post double digit wins, although they are the Vikings so it's guaranteed that they'll find a new and exciting way to lose in the Playoffs.

San Diego is not #2.

If I had to say pick a Cinderella team, it would be the Niners. Singletary's a genius. One of these years, he's going to surprise everyone and post a deep Playoff run. I wouldn't rule out 2010.

Mucky Tundra (19h) : Rude!
beast (20h) : Martha? 😋
Zero2Cool (24-Jan) : Raiders hired someone from the elderly home.
dfosterf (24-Jan) : I'm going with a combination of the two.
beast (24-Jan) : Either the Cowboys have no idea what they're doing, or they're targeting their former OC, currently the Eagles OC
Zero2Cool (23-Jan) : Fake news. Cowboys say no
Zero2Cool (23-Jan) : Mystery candidate in the Cowboys head coaching search believed to be Packers ST Coordinator Rich Bisaccia.
beast (23-Jan) : Also why do both NYC teams have absolutely horrible OL for over a decade?
beast (23-Jan) : I wonder why the Jets always hire defensive coaches to be head coach
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Aaron Glenn Planning To Take Jets HC Job
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Martha- C'est mon boulot! 😁
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Thank you
wpr (22-Jan) : Z, glad you are feeling better.
wpr (22-Jan) : My son and D-I-L work for UM. It's a way to pick on them.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Thank you. I rarely get sick, and even more rarely sick to the point I can't work.
wpr (22-Jan) : Beast- back to yesterday, I CAN say OSU your have been Michigan IF the odds of making the playoffs were more urgent.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : I've been near death ill last several days, finally feel less dead and site issues.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : It is a big deal. This host is having issues. It's frustrating.
Martha Careful (22-Jan) : just kidding...it was down
Martha Careful (22-Jan) : you were blocked yesterday, due to a a recalcitrant demeanor yesterday in the penalty box for a recalcitrant demeanor
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : FG to make it academic
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : and there's the dagger
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooo 8 point game with 4 minutes to go!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooooooohhhhhh he missed!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Ooooo that completion makes things VERY interesting
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Game not over yet
beast (21-Jan) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (21-Jan) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (21-Jan) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame getting rolled
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : Ohio State just got punched in the gut. Lets see how they respond
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame vs the Luckeyes, bleh
