But let me qualify my question.. I came from a broken home. And if the custody judge decided that my mother would have been a suitable parent to have custody.. I don't know where my life would be today, but judging how she has lived her life in the past 24 years, it probably wouldn't have been good. I believe the only reason my dad won custody was because my mother didn't show up in court. I don't know for sure.. but I believe that's how things went down. And if that's the case.. I dread the thought that she just HAPPENED to show up for court that day and where I would be today if she had. I love my mother, and she very much loves us kids. This is not disputable. But if she had shown up, she probably would have won custody. And because of the courts misruling in that case, it would have probably ruined my future due to the upbringing.
My point? Don't look at the gender or the 'numbers' of who's a better parent or not. Stats don't account for shit when looking at raising kids. What matters is looking at the cases at an individual basis and go from there.
