"Bryan Bulaga will line up at LT with Chad Clifton and Allen Barbre. T.J. Lang will line up at right tackle and compete with Mark Taucher and Breno Giacomini. Talking through Newhouse."

Finally some common sense. Colledge sticks to LG, Bulaga sticks to LT, and Lang at RT. We may just have something of an OL now...

I'd rather see Colledge backing up Clifton and new guy playing LG 'til he comes up to speed.

M.M.'s Comments...

We're a better football team in 2010 today than we have been in the past but that's just on paper.

I like the way we look on paper.

I may be wrong... Trust me, I often am.

BUT I SWEAR.... THat is THE EXACT SAME (Word For Word) statement he made after last years draft.

Yes Mike McCarthy has memorized his cliches. He also said they will be better on special teams. He was right last year as they jumped from 32nd to 31st. Maybe this year they can finish 30th.

He also said he would play Barbre at LT, which is pretty much the kiss of death for him. No way he makes the roster as a LT. See ya Barbie it was nice knowing you.

You know, Colledge was terrible last year. But his best performances have come at LG.

His issue has always been leverage and using his hands. That won't change at LT. In fact, he'll have to have good foot work to survive the position, which is no given.

I say keep Colledge at LG. Let him compete with Spitz. Between the two of them, its very likely a decent starter will emerge.

Whereas Bulaga has experience in a Zone scheme similar to ours at Iowa playing LT. You can count on Cliffy to go down at some point this year with his age, and in that case Bulaga with his recent experience seems a much better option. Emphasize continuity with him: keep him at LT and let him grow, instead of moving him and starting at square 1 next year.

After his performance last year, he shouldn't even be on the roster. He was dreadful.

I fully expect him to be cut.

Personally, it FINALLY seems like was are beginning to move forward on the o-line. You've got some semblance of continuity emerging. Versatility is nice, but so is having people stick to one position.

So do we have a depth chart yet for the OL? If so, what is it?

If not, anyone want to take a guess?

Here's mine:
Cliffy - Spitz - Wells - Sitton - Tausch
Buluga - Colledge - Spitz - ? - Lang

LT: 1. Clifton 2. Bulaga 3. Barbre(until he gets cut)
LG: 1. Spitz 2. Colledge 3. Lang 4. Newhouse
C: 1. Wells 2. Spitz 3. EDS
RG: 1. Sitton 2. Lang 3. Newhouse
RT: 1. Tauscher 2. Bulaga 3. Lang 4. Giacomini(no chance in hell of making the roster)

Thats just my intial depth chart today. Obviously could change with TC performance/pre season performance. As of this second I don't think Barbre, Giacomini or Newhouse will make the roster.

First impressions is that it is light years better than last year. Good to see Barbe and Giacomini at the end of the depth chart shows how much deeper we have gotten with Bulaga, a progressing Lang, and a healthy Spitz

It was suggested that lang would be a rt this year ie I assume backing up tauscher.

And it was already stated that they dont plan on moving bulaga ie starting him at LT and seeing how he does - obviously move him if it doesnt work.

Im not sure about the guard positions ...

Mucky Tundra (19h) : He hasn't been too bad when healthy but I don't feel like I ever heard much about when he is
Zero2Cool (20h) : Felt like he was more interested in his body, than football. He flashed more than I expected

Zero2Cool (22h) : NFL informed teams today that the 2025 salary cap will be roughly $277.5M-$281.5M

Mucky Tundra (18-Feb) : check the main forum, seems a spam bot is running amok
Zero2Cool (18-Feb) : What?
Mucky Tundra (18-Feb) : Is the Packers online game "Packers Predict" now available for 2024? I can't tell
Zero2Cool (17-Feb) : Bengals planning to Franchise Tag Tamaurice Higgins
Zero2Cool (14-Feb) : Packers are hiring Luke Getsy as senior offensive assistant.
Martha Careful (12-Feb) : I would love to have them both, esp. Crosby, but either might be too expensive.
