Why have a dome as a home stadium if it won't be put into use during the cold months, then?

This comment isn't specific to the Vikings, but rather to all dome teams.

Why play a man's game hiding from natures elements? When you look back at some of the all time great games, they are outside, in a open top stadium.

Dome's are garbage and no one can ever convince me of their worth for football. Football should be played outside, in the rain, the snow, the mud, the whatever. This pussy'n around in a dome in is pathetic.

If the Vikings played outside, they'd be a good cold weather team just like the Bears and Packers.

No matter what you believe about domes or non-domes.. Football is played on the field. That's it. I never cared what the building looked like when I played football. My goal was to sucker punch the opposing team in the mouth.

Again, you Packer fans make a dome out to be a much bigger deal than any other group of people I know.

You really think playing outside and inside are equal? My friend, suit up and play on both surfaces and then come try to talk that non sense. Thankfully more and more dome's are going to a more grass-like surface.

There's a big difference in speed when you're on turf vs grass. That offsets your timing. But I'm sure you knew that already, right?

Edit, how about crowd noise? That's equal and irrelevant? I would imagine in a dome it's louder than outside with an open roof. But crowd noise never plays a factor in games, right?

Bottom line, games are won ON the field, yes, but there are contributing factors that assist in dictating that outcome. Just because you don't understand them or acknowledge them does not mean they do not exist.

I've played on multiple surfaces. I know the surface on the dome is like, as I've played on it before.  Let me lay to rest.. It's just like playing on grass. At least, it was that year I played on it. The only 'advantage' it brings is one's cutting ability.. There's no worry of kicking up any sod when making cuts. But otherwise, it's not that much different.

Those intangible contributing factors make a lot less impact on a game than is advertised. Case in point.. '98 NFC Championship game. The loudest stadium in the NFL was ZERO factor in the Falcons winning that game. '09 NFC Championship game. The Superdome should have helped the Saints blow the Vikings out (remember, Vikings turned the ball over 5 times, putting it on the ground 7 total), but it went into overtime instead. With that many turnovers, shouldn't the Superdome been so loud that the Saints blow the Vikings out?

The goal, as a player, is to not acknowledge those factors. And that brings me back to my point.

The game is won on the field.

beast (8-Aug) : But the Return from IR designations had to be applied by the 53 man cutdown.
beast (8-Aug) : It's a new rule, so it's not clear, but my understanding was that they could be IR'd at any time
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : *had to be IRed at 53
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : beast, I thought the designate return from IR players had to be IR at cutdowns to 53, not before
beast (8-Aug) : It's a brand new rule, either last season or this season, prior, all pre-season IRs were done for the season
beast (8-Aug) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
beast (8-Aug) : I think the NFL recently changed the IR rules, so maybe the season might not be over for OL Glover.
Zero2Cool (8-Aug) : Packers star Howton, first NFLPA prez, dies at 95 😔
dfosterf (8-Aug) : Apparently it is too complicated for several to follow your simple instructions, but I digress
