Yes... I want to see Foster justify Bulaga as a Left Tackle since we sparred about Lang, almost same measurements but Lang has better footwork.

Big ol' Smile. 😉

I feel like the Packers are in a position where they can't make a bad pick, with all the talent on the board. And now that we finally drafted a 1st round offensive tackle, even a QB or WR wouldn't piss me off.

I would rather draft O'brien Schofield later in the draft.

Medical issues pushed Kindle out of first round
Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on April 23, 2010 11:08 AM ET
Texas linebacker Sergio Kindle surprisingly didn't get selected in the first round Thursday.

Now we know why.

Several teams had Kindle off their board due to medical issues, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Chip Brown of Rivals.com writes that Kindle's knee was a "serious" medical risk that could require microfracture surgery.

Kindle also takes medication for narcolepsy and ADD, although we doubt those are major issues. Kindle is known for his football intelligence, but his durability risks was too great for teams to take in the first round.

At some point in the second round, we think the risk of his injuries will be worth the reward of his considerable talents.

So much changes because Bulaga fell to #23.

I never thought he'd be available, so I never even contemplated this "what if?"

But one of the biggest things I like about him is that he is truly versatile. To my mind he is automatically an improvement at LG. Unless he tanks in training camp/preseason, that's where he starts opening day. If/when Clifton goes down, he slides over to LT. Long term he may be LT (or RT, if Tausch goes down, for that matter), but right now there's a good bet he wins a starting guard slot.

So, what do I want on day 2? I want another tackle who people think can play guard, or a center/guard that people think can play guard/center at a high level. I know people don't like "musical chairs" on the OL -- neither do I -- but given the amount of questions that surrounds ANYONE who has not played in the NFL yet and EVERYONE except Sitton and maybe Wells on the current roster -- the strategy that makes most sense to me in this draft is to pick up OL players with an eye to "either position A or position B").

The Bulaga pick makes it all possible. So, if you're listening to me, Ted, find a way to get another one of those versatile OL tonight, and maybe even a project third one tomorrow.

And then Mike can say to everyone on the OL except Sitton: "Best four start on opening day. Have at it, boys."

I don't know about anyone else, but that would make me a *very* happy fan.

How about you, foster, you fellow-OL-nut?

I don't want a guard in the second, unless there's nothing left as far as safety or OLB. Wells has center sewn up as far as I'm concerned, and I think Spitz needs to be in @ LG. College can back up Spitz and Sitton, with DS backing up Wells. I'm with Zero on Bulaga - that kid's a tackle and that's what he should play - let him spend his time learning the ropes behind Clifton while Lang perfects his game behind Tausch, and maybe we've got the tackles for Aaron's next 10 years or so.

IMO, with the talent sitting there on defense, that's where they need to go next - I'm fine with more OL help, but I'd rather see it happen later in the draft.

A 2nd year Lang not pigeon-holed into having to back up Cliify when he goes down, or can't practice---This was one of the nicest things that could have ever happened to Lang---and by extension--the entire offensive line as a whole...

Now Lang is a RT or a Left guard, and that fucking Colledge can suck my...while he rides the f#cking pine, that worthl.... I digress, lol

Cliffy can stop cheating the snap and drawing penalties and learn how to f$cking run block or HIS ass can sit next to Colled.... Digressing again, lol

This draft is going dfoster's way....I am having a VERY GOOD DAY...

ILike,
See, that's where I differ from just about everyone (except maybe Foster).

I don't see Spitz as anything more than a serviceable backup. He's better than Barbre or Coston, but not significantly better than Colledge.

And I want backups at a level that other teams will be tempted to go after them as free agents.

Maybe Bulaga is a tackle. But even if he is, if he's the second best LG we've got, I want him starting. Now if Spitz were at Sitton's level, then working him solely at LT would make sense. Better to work him as backup at LT than backup at LG.

But Spitz isn't Sitton. Spitz is....well, Spitz.

And, IMO, Spitz isn't Bulaga at G, either. IMO Bulaga with zero pro reps has more potential for excellence at OG than Spitz has with all his time in the NFL.

I probably would prefer to draft another OT to drafting an OG. But if I went OT again (e.g. trade up for Brown or Safford or Veldheer), I'd say to him and Bulaga and Clifton and Tauscher and Lang and Spitz and Colledge: Three of you are starting on opening day for the Green Bay Packers. Four of you aren't.

My guess is that Clifton and Tausch will win two of the positions just because they have the experience. But they wouldn't get it just because I paid them a lot of money a few months before. They'd have to prove they're better than Bulaga/Brown/whoever. And given that I feel that way about Clifton and, especially, Tauscher (who is one of my all time favorite Packers), it sure ought to true of Spitz, Colledge, and Lang.

O'Brien Schofield is way overrated. People just want a feel good story because he got injured. He was never more than a 5th rounder prospect.

Having watched the Badgers weekly.. I happily disagree.. kid can get to the QB..

Yes he would be a project to convert.. like Hughes to LB.. but being that he has a knee and will be drafted later on.. we have some time to develop him.

dfosterf (16-Apr) : Trade, cut or keep
dfosterf (16-Apr) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (16-Apr) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
