With Brandon Marshall going to Miami, the talk is that Tegg Gynn Jr. will be on the trading block.

He has never lived up to his hype as a receiver, but as a return man he is one of the better ones in the league.

With all the trouble The Packers had last year, what do you think it would take to get Gynn Jr.?

Bolding goes for a 3rd rnd pick, much more established reciever.
Holmes goes for a 5th, but lots of baggage their.
Marshall goes for a 2nd and it looks like another 2nd, there is baggage, but probably he is the best young reciever in the league.

I am thinking a 2nd rnd pick would be a good offer, Gynn is still young.

IMHO this is a viable aquisition for The Pack, fills an immediate need in returner, you get a guy who can be a #3,4 or 5 receiver.

The return talent is there, could be Gynn just didn't fit right with The Dolphins system as a receiver.

Packers aquire Gynn they have the receiver position locked up for several years. GJ,DD,JJ.Jordy and Gynn Jr.

I just keep going back to The last Superbowl year, when Desmond Howard was signed and made The Packers return teams a real weapon.

Of all the players that have been talked about, IMHO Tedd Gynn Jr. is one who could make the most and immediate impact for The Packers.

Any thoughts?

I think his name is Ted Ginn.

Other than that, it's certainly something worth looking into. Based on the information you've provided, though, a 2nd round pick seems a bit steep of a price to pay.

A 2nd rounder for Ginn? No way. A 4th rounder is the maximum asking price.

I always spell his name with a Y, and I don't know why. I was going to say a 3rd rnd pick, decide on 2nd, depending on how desperate Miami is to get rid of him, he may be able to be aquired for a 4th.

My thinking is get GInn(I)lol, you don't have to worry about your return game, anything else is gravy with the receivers The Packers have, then you can concentrate on other areas of need.

He's pretty darn good at returning kicks. Not so much at punts. Good thing is, we need a KR more than a PR right now, if Blackmon does come back strong.

I don't think that he'll ever become a really good receiver. We'd be getting another high end 3rd, low end 2nd guy. I can't see us keeping Jones and Nelson if we'd trade for Ginn.

I wouldn't give up more than a 5th right now.

His play dropped off last year and he was among the league leaders with eight drops. There is no way IMO he would replace either Jones or Nelson who are much more sure handed and produced relatively the same numbers with far fewer opportunities.

Patty over at PC said as much, too, and she's probably the most plugged in insider on any Packers website or forum. It is interesting that she said she'd give up a 6th but that would mean the Dolphins also wanting another player in any trade.

So the question becomes, who would the Packers be willing to give up? Outside of Bush - you'd have to think not many teams are interested in him - maybe the Dolphins might be interested in Poppinga? Losing Taylor and Porter at OLB, maybe Poppinga appeals to them as vet. depth?

Ginn would be an immediate upgrade at KR, for sure. But he has some added value in that, should Jennings go down, you have someone who can become your speed WR. I still think he may have some value as a slot WR against nickle / dime backs. Add to that his salary is less than $2 million each of the next two seasons.... and well I hop Ted at least looks into trading for Ginn.

I'd love to offload Poppinga in a trade but he's not a 3-4 fit for Miami.

I'd possibly give up a 5th but the problem comes down to roster spots.

Driver aside, Jennings, Jones and Jordy are all either young, cheap or have plenty of upside. They have done nothing to suggest they should be got rid of. Jones and Jordy may have shown limited production but that's in part because they play behind two solid guys.
Ted Thompson likes drafting WRs and no doubt has is eye on one or two this year. Any WR drafted would compete with Swain for the 5th WR position.

That 5th WR position is perfect for young players with upside who we can develop.

If we traded for Ginn we'd either have to not draft a WR even if there is value there for us on draft day or carry 6 WRs, something we don't really need to do with Finley and the youth at the position.

I have zero interest in Ginn.

By the way, here is his current contract:
2009 - $677,917
2010 - $1,035,833
2011 - $1,393,750
2012 - $1,801,667 (voidable year)

Stone hands Ginn... Special teamer and not much more.

I will pass on the over hyped former OSU star unless he came cheap.

wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
