I drink carbonated water like mad. My wife and I go through about 2 liters every night in a 3 hour period before bed.

There is no reason to drink soda? There is also no reason to drink milk.

Milk has calsium which you need to strengthen your bones.

Drinking soda that much just before you go to bed is crazy. You wake up with a hard-on and a need to whiz a couple of times every night if you do that.

Drinking soda is fine in my books, it doesn't really matter what you eat or drink as long as you have an understanding of how many calories you've burned and gained in a day.

Every game day I down a 1,5 liter bottle of Coca Cola or Sprite, along with some alcohol and something to eat. But if you work out during the day it doesn't really matter.

was soda or as i call it 'pop' served in any of your schools? cuz it wasn't in mine - EVER! it's not sold in the boys school either. i know everyone's talking about this obesity problem among children now but at last weeks music program, i saw maybe 3 kids that were overweight. i'm not sure how many kids actually go to their school but it's K-5. i'd guess it's around 300 kids. most of them (including my boys) are skinny! no real secret - they are active kids who burn more calories than they take in. mine don't really care for juice so it's water or milk the vast majority of the time. a pop is a treat. and it's ALWAYS diet, caffeine free.

Good point 4Pack. I have NEVER seen soda in any of my schools until I got to college. I'm thinking, "what schools are they talking about?"

I love how schools are always to blame for everything. What about parents? Hey parents - maybe YOU shouldn't buy soda instead of blaming the schools for your kids being fat. Or maybe YOU should take them outside and actually exercising instead of expecting the schools to keep them in shape. And maybe YOU should be enforcing good habits instead of hoping the schools do it for you.

I hate the term "Overweight". Everyone on your football team is going to be "overweight" because of their muscle mass. Freaking BMI...

While carbonated water is hardly an ideal drink -- it's acidic and can cause calcium to leach from the bones in excessive doses, among other other issues -- it doesn't have nearly the same health risks as soda, which is excessively rich in simple carbohydrates.

Interesting. Now I'm curious. Do you have any research links backing this up? All I've seen are opinion articles, and one mention of an actual study done showing zero negative effects of sparkling water.

I'm not talking about sparkling mineral water, by the way. The stuff we get is sodium free, so it can't be mineral water.

There is one article saying the effect on dental enamel is negligible, which seems right. I've been drinking this shit since I was about 5 and I have zero fillings.

Carbonated water is produced by infiltrating the water with CO2 to produce a small amount of carbonic acid. As I said in my previous post, youd have to drink a lot to have a substantial effect.

Back to the topic..........public and private schools are in a budget crunch situation. Levies are being defeated right and left, parents are pulling kids out of private schools because of increased tuition costs.....it's a never ending circle. So.......along comes Pepsi or Coke Co's and offers thousands of dollars of new school equipment for the right to put their machines in the schools and "have minimal advertising." It's a no-brainer. School boards aren't going to say no to that kind of money. Instead, they are going to "educate" the students about sugars and soft drinks and hope that they will be sensible in purchasing these drinks. That kind of money bought three new digital scoreboards for our three high school gyms and equipment for two science labs here in Missoula.

Secondly, in budget crunch time and with the No Bush Left Behind act, what's the first thing cut when budgets are tight? Physical Education and the arts. The kids scores in PE tests or art and music don't count in the Annual Yearly Progress score for schools. So Johnny or Janie gets no physical activity at all and probably goes home after school, and plays video games until bedtime.

It's nice to see schools start to say No to the soda companies. Even here, they have taken out the coke and pepsi and put in juices and things like that. But, it all comes down to money. Take a look in most sports and look at all the advertising that these guys have on their jackets, cars, skiis, etc. The dollar is louder than a can of pop.

Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : sounds like Packers don't get good compensation, Jaire staying
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Nobody coming up with a keep, but at x amount
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Trade, cut or keep
dfosterf (16-Apr) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (16-Apr) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (16-Apr) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Jalen Ramsey wants to be traded. He's never happy is he?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : two 1sts in 2022 and two 2nd's in 2023 and 2024
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers had fortunate last three drafts.
dfosterf (15-Apr) : I may have to move
