MTS Mock Draft 1.5

I made my first attempt at a mock draft on the Move The Sticks Podcast just before the start of free agency. After a few trades and signings, I decided to update the mock draft before putting it up on the website. I have some notable omissions compared to what others in the media are projecting for the 1st Round. I dont have Jimmy Clausen, Taylor Mays or Bruce Campbell being selected in the opening round of the 2010 draft. This is a very deep draft and because of that, there are going to be a lot of big name players that get pushed into the 2nd round.

1. Rams- S. Bradford QB Oklahoma- Glaring need at the position trumps everything
2. Lions- N. Suh DT Nebraska- More versatile than McCoy
3. Buccaneers- G. McCoy DT Oklahoma- Much needed dominant interior presence
4. Redskins- R. Okung OT Oklahoma St- Must address the biggest issue and thats the OL
5. Chiefs- E. Berry FS Tennessee- Easy pick for a team that needs playmakers
6. Seahawks-C. Spiller RB Clemson- (See previous comment)
7. Browns-D. Morgan LB Georgia Tech- Browns are big on smart, productive players
8. Raiders- J. Paul DE South Florida- Physical Freak with huge upside
9. Bills- D. Williams NT Tennessee- Perfect fit for the Bills new 3-4
10. Jaguars- R. Matthews RB Fresno St- Copying the Panthers with a deadly duo at RB
11. Broncos- E. Thomas FS Texas- This gives them some youth at Safety and a capable Nickel CB
12. Dolphins- B. Graham DE Michigan- Reminds me of Anthony Spencer
13. 49ers- B. Bulaga OT Iowa- Maybe a little early but a high floor pick
14. Seahawks- A. Davis OT Rutgers- Raw talented pass protector fills a void
15. Giants-R. McClain LB Alabama- Size and instincts are excellent but this isnt Pat Willis 2.0
16. Titans- D. Bryant WR Oklahoma St- A little risky but the talent is too great to pass up
17. 49ers- K. Wilson CB Boise St- Best press corner in the draft
18. Steelers- J. Haden CB Florida- He can go higher if he runs better at his pro day
19. Falcons- K. Jackson CB Alabama- A real fast riser that is excellent on tape
20. Texans- D. McCourty CB Rutgers- Fast, physical press corner that is also a stud on special teams
21. Bengals- J. Gresham TE Oklahoma- They finally land a big time TE for Palmer
22. Patriots- E. Griffen OB USC- Has as much upside as any defender in the draft
23. Packers- T. Williams OT Oklahoma- Fills a huge need and can play both sides
24. Eagles- S. Kindle DE/OB Texas- A nice compliment to Trent Cole
25. Ravens- B. Price DT UCLA- Need to get a younger sidekick for Ngata
26. Cardinals- S. Weatherspoon IB Missouri- Excellent replacement for Dansby
27. Cowboys- C. Brown OT USC- Provides a young athletic OT that can eventually replace Adams
28. Chargers- J. Odrick DE Penn State- Excellent run defender with upside as a rusher
29. Jets- J. Hughes OB TCU- Super productive pass rusher that is athletic in coverage as well
30. Vikings- J. Best RB Cal- Imagine that RB combo
31. Colts-M. Pouncey OC/OG Florida- Need to upgrade the interior of the OL
32. Saints- D. Washington LB TCU- Explosive, playmaking LB that would look great next to Vilma

I have absolutely no respect for someone who has Clausen out of the first round. I can maybe, just maybe understand if he falls out of the top 10, but that's just retarded and will never happen.

Mays and Campbell could easily fall into round 2.

This guy is a former scout who worked for two organizations I believe. I wouldn't take him that lightly, but Clausen falling out of the first is a stretch.

I think he's falling though. How far? It's becoming more and more clear that he may fall further than some think. It's all about Washington and the Jags IMO.

Washington trading back up into round one is something that intrigues me.

I wouldn't discount his opinions on Clausen out of hand. He makes some interesting arguments on his site. But even he admits it was a stretch. He doesn't necessarily think it will happen in real life -- but as a (former) NFL scout himself, this mock draft represents what he thinks probably "should" happen.

If Okung falls to the Redskins, and the Bills finally decide to fix their O-Line, yes, Clausen could fall... but past the Broncos? I just can't see that.

Martha Careful (2m) : Don't you think teams with the byes should play Sunday? It is fairer to opponents to give an additional day. instead of short week.
beast (17-Jan) : You have a point, it's a very wise move, therefore, that can't be what the Jets are doing.
Zero2Cool (17-Jan) : It'd be a wise move.
beast (17-Jan) : I think Jets are just killing time, and picking up information as they wait for their guy to get done with the playoffs.
Zero2Cool (16-Jan) : Brewers icon & Baseball Hall of Famer Bob Uecker passed away today at the age of 90
Zero2Cool (16-Jan) : Jets wanna interview Jeff Hafley for their HC spot. W. T. F.
beast (15-Jan) : A more aggressive QB, potentially could of hit the WRs more often, taking some risks, but also potential get an INT.
beast (15-Jan) : So Hurts didn't take many, if any risks, and wasn't throwing into Cover 2, which I think helped the Packers. Where a more aggressive QB o
beast (15-Jan) : Cover 2, keep a CB and Safety over top of both WRs... and Hurts (like Rodgers) is overly careful and doesn't like any risk in his throws.
joepacker (15-Jan) : new to this maybe question n wrong place?
joepacker (15-Jan) : how did the packers mostly shut down the eagles passin attack and specifically how did they manage such a good job on aj brown?
Zero2Cool (15-Jan) : Per his dad
Zero2Cool (15-Jan) : Watson to have his surgery soon, and should be back around Week 12, with a normal rehab.
beast (15-Jan) : More likely to listen if the guy controlling the ball is the one telling them
beast (15-Jan) : Apparently because players aren't doing the small things when the coaches tell them, and LaFleur believes they're more likely
Zero2Cool (15-Jan) : Jordan isn't a vocal guy. Why not let him lead his way?
Zero2Cool (15-Jan) : I'm not sure it ever bodes well when you have to tell your team leader to be more vocal.
Zero2Cool (15-Jan) : CFL. Nice.
packerfanoutwest (15-Jan) : good luck with that
packerfanoutwest (15-Jan) : Matt LaFleur looking for Jordan Love to be more of a vocal leader

Mucky Tundra (14-Jan) : Anyone else abhor MNF wildcard games?
Martha Careful (14-Jan) : Why is it that the Rams rookies can contribute right away but our first and second year guys are too young to contribute in a meaningful way
Martha Careful (14-Jan) : Yes, Saquon Barkley had a very nice game. But he has a much better offensive line in front of him. I'll take Josh Jacob's. I love the guy

TheKanataThrilla (13-Jan) : Don't like that call Washtington on 4th down
TheKanataThrilla (12-Jan) : The Bills really need to improve their D. The have the ability to score at will, but if they stumble this D will not save them.

Mucky Tundra (12-Jan) : Blocked PAT returned for 2; not something you see often
Mucky Tundra (12-Jan) : After a strong start, Herbert playing like ass

Martha Careful (11-Jan) : Two terrific NCAA Football Semi-Final Games...We can only hope the Championship game is as good
Zero2Cool (10-Jan) : Eagles WR DeVonta Smith will be a DNP in today’s practice. He’s dealing with back tightness. But the expectation is that he’ll play Sunday.
