MM seemed to be going ga-ga at the concept of him falling to the Pack. I watched the brief clips of Mike looking at Dez on NFLN.

Mike was timing him in the 40. I thought I saw Mike drooling. That drool was no smokescreen.

First it was Teblow, now this guy. Go take your stopwatch and get some times on OT's, DE/OLB's, cornerbacks and safeties ! Go find a munchkin kick returner to call after the draft, or go to Australia and get us another "punter", but don't you DARE go back and tell Ted Thompson that we oughta get this guy.

He is SCARY stupid, slow, quits on drills at his friggin' PRO DAY, forgets to bring the right cleats... Oh, and let's not forget the character and immaturity issues, plus he is obviously out of shape.

NFP- Where does Brant fit after his pro day?

Where does Bryant stand after his pro day?

WR left too many questions unanswered. So who will pick him? Matt Bowen
March 31, 2010

Where are we now when it comes to Oklahoma State WR Dez Bryant after his personnel pro day Tuesday in his hometown of Lufkin, Texas? Not an eye-opening workout, but it also wasnt a workout thats going to send Bryant falling down draft boards at a record pace.

How far will Bryant's stock fall after Tuesday's workout?

The 40 time is debatable. Bryant was timed anywhere from 4.55 to the 4.6 range, but those are handheld times, and once you run in an environment outside the combine in Indianapolis, theres no such thing as an official time.

I asked two NFC coaches about the times, and both of them said it was about what they expected.

Mike Mayock of NFL.com who is very high on Bryant did a great job recapping the workout, hitting on the fact that the Big 12 product looked good when he got to the positional workouts on the field, but he also mentioned that the wide receiver failed to complete both the 3-cone and short-shuttle drills.

A small thing to many, but again, something else to question. Why would a player in his biggest job interview not finish a simple drill? And why would a player show up at a workout without cleats? From a players perspective, a pro day is a great opportunity if its handled the right way.

I wrote about Bryants draft stock after he decided to reschedule his pro day off campus in Texas, and the questions were the same back then from coaches I talked to in the league. Is this a player who will be dedicated once he gets paid? Is he a receiver who works exclusively outside the numbers and will disappear in the red zone? Does he really fit what were trying to do on offense? And do we want a player we have to monitor?

You cant question Bryants game when you turn on the tape before he received the suspension from Oklahoma State. The guy can play football, but if youre looking for first-round talent next month in the draft, would it be safer and more cost effective to go after a receiver like Arrelious Benn from Illinois?

In his latest mock draft, NFP scout Wes Bunting had Bryant landing at No. 12 to Miami. I like the idea of any player with issues working under the Tony Sparano/Bill Parcels regime, and to see the Dolphins offense under QB Chad Henne with Bryant on the outside in intriguing.

But this is the problem when a pro day isnt spectacular for a top prospect like what we saw Monday with Oklahoma QB Sam Bradford. Every report out of Norman was positive, and the general assumption is that the quarterback all but wrapped up the top spot in the draft.

With Bryant, we get the opposite. We expect a receiver with that high a profile to turn heads and make us forget about the off-the-field baggage thats going to come with him. Instead, we just have more questions. And like it or not, those 40 times have power.

For now, anything goes when it comes to speculating about whos going to pull the trigger in the first round of the draft. Hes still a mystery.

Take him off your board Ted !

I don't want another Crabdouche draft experience. Please be long gone by the time our pick rolls around !

Did I mention that I don't like Dez at 23?

Oh, and he told an NFL scout that "He doesn't like to run slants." Really. He told him that. Allegedly. (Which is a word to get used to if we draft this clown)

He didn't have a really bad pro day. His long jump was amazing. More character issues just arose because of those cleats.

But yeah, if Ted takes him I'll fucking crucify the guy myself. Not only do we have 4 great WRs already, Dez is a douche.

I've heared reports about the Packers going after a receiver again this year, because they're not sold on Jones or Nelson when Driver retires.

Then again, eveyone's throwing out crap right now.

This might very well be a set-up. Up the trade value. It looks more and more realistic that Bryant will drop to us. If he does, I could see a team like the Rams trying to move up a little.

Whew. I just figured out why Mike was in Texas.

NFP- Several potential first rounders in action today

Good smokescreen Mike!

Had me worried, there, lol

Personally at 23... I would love the pick.

Why you ask... because it will put a fire in this kids belly to prove them all wrong.

His "character" issues are tardiness, immaturity and having dinner with Sanders (and his agent). His college coaches echoed those, but also complimented the kid plenty.

At 23.. his contract wouldn't be all that prohibitive and we would control him for 4 to 6 years (CBA dependant).

Throw that forty time in the trash already.. watch the kid on film and all you see is him creating separation, amazing body control and excellent hands. Put him with Jennings, Driver, Jones and Nelson... he will pick up plenty of quality traits from those 4...

Would it be a need pick at 23.. absolutely not.. but it would be very likely that he would be the best player on the board at 23.

Now.. let play that out.. he is sitting there at 23, we would have a plethora of choices to trade that pick.

# St. Louis (1-15)
# Detroit (2-14)
# Tampa Bay (3-13)
# Washington (4-12)
# Kansas City (4-12)
# Seattle (5-11)
# Cleveland (5-11)
# Oakland (5-11)
# Buffalo (6-10)
# Jacksonville (7-9)
# Denver - from Chicago (7-9)
# Miami (7-9)
# San Francisco (8-8)
# Seattle - from Denver (8-8)
# New York Giants (8-8)
# Tennessee (8-8)
# San Francisco - from Carolina (8-8)
# Pittsburgh (9-7)
# Atlanta (9-7)
# Houston (9-7)
# Cincinnati* (10-6)
# New England* (10-6)

Looking at the list.. it is a potential for him to slide to us. If he does, expect the Cowboys to come calling.. but I would think the Pats would trade down before we could.

A Dolphins forum with some interview footage

Aaron is going to need to carry a stick so he can draw Dez's route in the dirt for him.

The only thing missing is Dhaze coming in with HIS usual bullshit, along with Porky making a perfectly reasoned argument on why we should pull the trigger on a Dez at 23.

+1 for the art.

Now I get to sweat this one for 3 weeks, lol
