The thing though is... the Bears are on the hook for about twice that for a single player.. they can tout all they want they could bail on the deal after one year.. but as the details slowly sink in.. they are married to the guy for basically three year.. or at least the damage will last three years.

For a guy with motivational issues... we have never heard that type of complaint about any of these three.. hell Cliffy has basically sold his body out to keep playing this long.. the Sapp hit.. surgery after surgery... guy lives and breathes football..

Peppers... some question why he plays... one former teammate even offered something to the fact of if he liked football imagine what he could do... that isn't someone I sell my franchise out for.

Well I hope peppers sucks cuz he'll be coming for rodgers ... I agree with you about the above thou; I like our players and their motivation much more then peppers although that guy has a nice rush.

Spending 7 million on Clifton may have been a necessary part of the puzzle. But it is far from being "active" unless one is convinced that Clifton is the answer at LT.

If your team has bona fide issues "signing your own" is NOT a sufficient strategy. Necessary, yes. Sufficient, no.

Count all three of them as FAs if you want. Then "active" means something greater than or equal to 4 signings.

I'm ecstatic that they re-signed Pickett. IMO he was the single most important "Packer FA" to keep.

I'm quite happy that Collins was signed. (Even though I think he's a bit overrated by many).

And I'm okay with the Clifton signing. (Even though I am certain he is overrated.)

But I am by no means satisfied. Not even close.

Don't make a mistake in me thinking we are active in FA... what I am saying for a team that only reported a 4 Million dollar profit laying out that much dough has a limit.

To play in the FA market.. it takes greenbacks.. I for one can see after the structure of these deals why we would be quiet this season.

Economics of the game.

In the upcoming season, we have about 31 million reasons why we shouldn't be more pro active in Free Agency.

If there was a player out there that was a missing piece for us, go for it. I'm not seeing that though. We need depth at CB and Safety as well as another pass rushing OLB to compliment Matthews III.

I'm kind of curious to learn how much other teams have spent in Free Agency for this upcoming season. We're down for 31 million and that's not even including the deal that Tauscher is going to get.
