Yes, because the members of this message board directly effect how well the Packers perform each year. ha. But yes, I wish our O-line was better. and our D-line. And defensive secondary. And linebackers. And offensive backfield. and our receivers. and quarterback. and special teams. Did I miss anything?

Far from a Ted apologist speaking here, but is the OL talent his fault?

Zero, he's the GM for Christ's sake, and yes, you have been the major Ted apologist on this board for the last two fucking years. The OL talent is HIS DIRECT RESPONSIBILITY. The fact that you ask the above question proves you are an apologist. Period.

So what are you going to change my screen name to now?

I predicted the 1 and out in the playoffs this year and so long as people like you continue to enable mediocrity that's all we'll ever get.

My argument to the offensive line woes and where the blame lies.

I think the whomever was quoted here missed a huge component of why the Panthers have a quality offensive line.

"Whoever  scouts offensive linemen for the Panthers has done a really good job. They have one of the best offensive lines in football, and some of the young guys they are grooming can play. I don't know where they found Mackenzy Bernadeau, but the guy played well. He has a lot of upside. Geoff Schwartz needs to get stronger, but he did a solid job. If you have a good line, you have a chance."

Dave Magazu.

There is something to be said for a quality experienced offensive line coach... something I think we are lacking yet. Taking raw talent and getting it to perform as part of an overall group is a art form.

After four years of working with the Panthers tight ends, Dave Magazu returned "home" in 2007 to coach the offensive line. His return was a success by every measure as the offensive line helped Carolina compile the third-most rushing yards in team history with 1,824 and the third-highest average yards per carry with 4.04.

Prior to coming to the NFL in 2003 as a tight ends coach, Magazu had spent more than 20 years coaching offensive lines on the college level. His move to tight ends was seamless because of the overlap between the two positions in the Panthers offense with an emphasis devoted to blocking at tight end. Four of the top six rushing seasons in Carolina history have come since Magazu's arrival. In his first season in 2003, the tight end position played an integral role in setting a then club record of 2,091 rushing yards, which ranked seventh in the League.

QB we have a bright future, not much of a drop off there.
RB we downgraded, but still get good production.
FB I miss Henderson.
OL massive downgrade.
WR edge goes to this years crop, easily.
TE big ass upgrade
DL I like our DL now more than 5 years ago
LB huge improvement
CB HUGE improvement, we had the freaking DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR for crying out loud.
Safeties I think Collins and Sharper are a wash and Bigby is helluva lot better than who, Mark Roman?
K downgraded from Longwell to Crosby
P we sucked at punting back then too but Bryan Barker or Jeremy Kapinos?

We had talent, but it was AGING talent. Now we have talent that's on the RISE.

QB - I'm going to skip this one.
RB - Ryan Grant in '09 is slightly better than Ahman Green in '04. Now, Green in '03 is better than Grant ever was or ever will be. But he was already declining in '04.

Grant - 282 1253 11 62 4.4
Green - 259 1163 7 90 4.5

Green fumbled 7 times. Grant 1. Green had 1 TD receiving, Grant 0. Overall - edge goes to Grant slightly. Grant is on the rise, Green in '04 on the decline.

FB - We all miss Henderson
WR - '09
TE - '09
OL - '04, not even close
DL - '09
LB - '09
CB - '09, not even close
S - Tie. Despite what everyone else says, I love Sharper. I love Collins too. Bigby vs Roman, I'd take Bigby but I'll still mark it a tie because it's too close to call.
K - Why did we get rid of Ryan Longwell?
P - Suck vs suck. Both lose.

Overall - '09 wins, hands down.

In addition to Green, Hondo, and Bubba were running their string, Sharper and Longwell wanted out the door, Walker wanted a rediculous salary, thank GOD we got Harris because there wasn't another NFL CB on the roster, our DL leaked like a sieve, and eventually it became obvious KGB was just not going to work.

We had TWO GOOD OT's though. So Thompson goes out here and puts player after player on the team and actually builds a little depth behind starters at many positions.

He's in a place now where he can address this but it's not like the guy has been standing on this wealth of talent picking his nose and looking up one day and saying "oh gee, we need some Olinemen." He bagan early on the interior with Colledge and Spitz and rode Clifton and Tauscher.

I understand it. I see what he's been up against and what he has done. I can tell you I was VERY nervous after '04. I saw how much depth this team had lost and how old it was getting with virtually no young guys coming up and I could see another '70's and 80's run all over again taking FOREVER to get back to the top. Especially when you consider probably the best QB maybe ever was already talking about walking away.

Give me a couple decent Olinemen and a ROLB that's not quite right in the head and let's rumble and THAT'S a tribute to Ted Thompson for how far along he's brought this team.

The same people on this site that had no confidence in Aaron Rodgers, bashed Aaron Rodgers, stated as their fact that he would never amount to anything two years ago.... Are the same people who have a hate of for T.T. right now.

That is a fact. I know. I read this site, and have for years.

I know who they are, I am not going to name names. But it is a fact.

However, that is also a fact of life. Some People just love to have something to bitch about. Some people would not be happy if they were happy.

Some people wake up in the morning and say: "Thank You God For This Glorious Morning.... And some people wake up in the morning and say: "My God It Is The Fucking Morning."

I stepped into an elevator with a feller one Monday morning, there were only the two of us... I said: "Can you believe the sunshine this morning." This guy looked me in the eye and said: "Ya Well It Is Going To RAIN on Thursday"

Some people are only happy if they have the opportunity to bitch., put down, degrade, and criticize everything around them. You can bet IF they are bitching about the GM of their NFL team that is solid, they also are bitching about their boss at work, their wife's cooking, their child's home work, and the sermon at church on Sunday.

They bitched about drafting Aaron, they bitched when he became the starter, they bitched when he said one small thing about "The Fans Getting On Board." after he was shouted "Fuck You" by children at camp.

They bitched that he had better receiver's, and was really not that good, when he did good.

They bitched that that he was hanging on to the ball too long when his O Line had him sacked 4,000 times in the first 8 games in his second year.

They bitch that Ted has not fixed the O Line... When no one is perfect, and can only fix one thing at a time. They would never mention getting Chuck in FA, drafting the players who have been so successful.

The NUMBER ONE JOB of any GM in the NFL is to draft, and develop a Quarterback who is a top 4% QB. Ted has done that, much to the dislike of the Ted Haters.

Oh Yes.. I truly believe they... the negative mentality of this forum... would be happier if Rodgers failed, and Ted would be gone.

Even if it meant Jeff Fucking Garcia was the starting QB for the Green Bay Packers right now, and Rodgers was starting for the Bears.

There are only two types of people on this planet, and on this forum.

Either you are a wondering generality who want to bitch for the simple fact it makes you feel better. Or you are a meaningful specific who looks at the positive in a realistic "Compared To What?" mentality.

THIS IS THE SAD FACT.

The people who dislike Ted on this forum CAN NOT SAY ONE THING POSITIVE ABOUT HIM. They can not even admit it was a great draft pick to take Aaron. They never mention the good and the great.

But then again... They most likely can not say anything positive about anything in their life.

When Ted gets his first Superbowl next year... They will say: Well He should have had TWO by now.

Zero2Cool (5h) : If they'd been more patient with him, he'd be back already. Putting him out there vs Bears caused him to tweak it and here we are.
packerfanoutwest (5h) : well this is his last season with the PAck, book it
beast (6h) : Sounds like no Alexander (again), I'm wondering if his time with the Packers is done
Zero2Cool (13h) : Could ban beast and I still don't think anyone catches him.
Mucky Tundra (26-Dec) : Houston getting dog walked by Baltimore
packerfanoutwest (25-Dec) : Feliz Navidad!
Zero2Cool (25-Dec) : Merry Christmas!
beast (25-Dec) : Merry Christmas 🎄🎁
beast (24-Dec) : Sounds like no serious injuries from the Saints game and Jacobs and Watson should play in the Vikings game
packerfanoutwest (24-Dec) : both games Watson missed, Packers won
Martha Careful (24-Dec) : I hope all of you have a Merry Christmas!
Mucky Tundra (24-Dec) : Oh I know about Jacobs, I just couldn't pass up an opportunity to mimic Zero lol
buckeyepackfan (24-Dec) : Jacobs was just sat down, Watson re-injured that knee that kept him out 1 game earlier
buckeyepackfan (24-Dec) : I needed .14 that's. .14 points for the whole 4th quarter to win and go to the SB. Lol
Mucky Tundra (24-Dec) : Jacobs gonna be OK???
Zero2Cool (24-Dec) : Watson gonna be OK???
packerfanoutwest (24-Dec) : Inactives tonight for the Pack: Alexander- knee Bullard - ankle Williams - quad Walker -ankle Monk Heath
packerfanoutwest (24-Dec) : No Jaire, but hopefully the front 7 destroys the line of scrimmage & forces Rattler into a few passes to McKinney.
packerfanoutwest (24-Dec) : minny could be #1 seed and the Lions #5 seed
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : We'd have same Division and Conference records. Strength of schedule we edge them
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : I just checked. What tie breaker?
bboystyle (23-Dec) : yes its possible but unlikely. If we do get the 5th, we face the NFCS winner
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : Ahh, ok.
bboystyle (23-Dec) : yes due to tie breaker
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : I mean, unlikely, yes, but mathematically, 5th is possible by what I'm reading.
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : If Vikings lose out, Packers win out, Packers get 5th, right?
bboystyle (23-Dec) : Minny isnt going to lose out so 5th seed is out of the equation. We are playing for the 6th or 7th seed which makes no difference
Mucky Tundra (23-Dec) : beast, the ad revenue goes to the broadcast company but they gotta pay to air the game on their channel/network
beast (23-Dec) : If we win tonight the game is still relative in terms of 5th, 6th or 7th seed... win and it's 5th or 6th, lose and it's 6th or 7th
beast (23-Dec) : Mucky, I thought the ad revenue went to the broadcasting companies or the NFL, at least not directly
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : I think the revenue share is moot, isn't it? That's the CBA an Salary Cap handling that.
bboystyle (23-Dec) : i mean game becomes irrelevant if we win tonight. Just a game where we are trying to play spoilers to Vikings chance at the #1 seed
Mucky Tundra (23-Dec) : beast, I would guess ad revenue from more eyes watching tv
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : I would think it would hurt the home team because people would have to cancel last minute maybe? i dunno
beast (23-Dec) : I agree that it's BS for fans planning on going to the game. But how does it bring in more money? I'm guessing indirectly?
packerfanoutwest (23-Dec) : bs on flexing the game....they do it for the $$league$$, not the hometown fans
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : I see what you did there Mucky
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : dammit. 3:25pm
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : Packers Vikings flexed to 3:35pm
Mucky Tundra (23-Dec) : Upon receiving the news about Luke Musgrave, I immediately fell to the ground
Mucky Tundra (23-Dec) : Yeah baby!
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : LUKE MUSGRAVE PLAYING TONIGHT~!~~~~WOWHOAAOHAOAA yah
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : I wanna kill new QB's ... blitz the crap out of them.
beast (23-Dec) : Barry seemed to get too conservative against new QBs, Hafley doesn't have that issue
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : However, we seem to struggle vs new QB's
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : Should be moot point, cuz Packers should win tonight.
packerfanoutwest (23-Dec) : ok I stand corrected
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : Ok, yes, you are right. I see that now how they get 7th
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : 5th - Packers win out, Vikings lose out. Maybe?
beast (23-Dec) : Saying no to the 6th lock.
