You have to figure this is the beginning of this team's attempt to make a concentrated effort on improving ST.
Montgomery and Giordano were bottom of the roster guys that you expected to provide some burn as ST players. Frankly, neither was any good.
Add to that, Mont was in for a tough time in the 3-4 from day 1. That Giordano was actually playing games as a Safety speaks to the poor depth of the Packers at Safety.
Dare I say it, Jarret Bush probably offers more value than Montgomery as a bottom of the roster ST guy.
Personally, I'd love for the Packers to go out and bring some veteran leadership to Special Teams. As someone pointed out to me recently: our best Special Teams performance came when we had Tracey White as the unquestioned leader of our Special Teams. Coincidence? I don't think so, personally.
Perhaps Derrick Martin can be that guy, but I'd feel much more at ease going out and getting another vet to lead our young Special Teamers.
