Rotoworld

Beat writer thought he would be a high level tender. He is a mid.

We would lose our first round pick.

Latest mock that I follow  has all 6 top-tier OT's gone by the 20th pick in this draft. Major fall-off after that. Cliffy is the top UFA LT.

Gaither is said to have a 'tude at times. He is also one of the top LT's in the game, and young.

Why is Balt exposing him?

Michael Oher. The 23rd pick in last year's draft.

PFF- tackles
for quick reference

I say they have to look real hard at doing this. I would feel quite a bit of relief if they did so.

I'd do it. Like you said, he's young, and he's better than anyone we're likely to get at 23...

You and that damn PFF... lol.

Would I be opposed to calling the Ravens and swinging a deal for Gaither.. no I wouldn't.

Personally I think the Ravens are merely establishing the market price for Gaither, but I would not mind being wrong.

One of the possible motivations for tendering him as a "one only" is the wide-held belief that they would like Brandon Marshall.

NFP- Time for the tender game

They get our 1st and use it to get Marshall, retaining their existing first.

Works for me, but I still say they are just setting the market, plus there are a LOT of teams that are going to find this option attractive when they start doing the math.

Agreed... alot of these tenders are merely a starting point in an asking price if they were to move these guys.

Without the cap this year, I am expecting a few more trades than the past couple of years..

Not if you're the Vikings and just put a poison pill in.

I wouldn't mind him coming here, either. He struggled at times and there's a reason that they took Oher over him, but he's better than what we have right now.

And better than what we can most likely get (asuming Brown will be off the board).

This idea floating around about collusion on the lack of a poison pill is absurd.. why haven't clubs used it more?

Because it will come back and bite them in the ass.. is why.. not to mention the NFL league offices frowned on it when it happened.

Personally I wouldn't like it if he used a poison pill... because sooner or later it is going to come back upon you.

Well, if I can get a Steven Hutchinson and lose a Nate Burleson, I'm all for it. Lol.

That said, I agree, I don't like the use of stuff like that.

So Mid level tender = 1st round pick?

That sounds off... since 1st round is a high pick...

If he's the best we can get and he's not gonna have a problems then why not?
