WTF am I going to do with all that beer? By that time, Wade will have reduced in poundage to the point that I am hosed out of drinking!

I'm putting Ciron Black on my "sleeper" pick list.

He has fallen so far out of favor from a "sure thing NFL-ready Left tackle" to

"Why was anybody so high on that fat-assed lazy over-rated bastard"

Now I like him again.

He is replacing my 3 month old Vladimir Ducasse that now everyone is in love with.

3rd round, baby. That would currently be considered a large "reach" on many mocks.

I say bullshit. He still has the potential to be

THE BEST LT in this draft....

really.

btw---

I figure I'm owed a one case advance bonus just for you (Shawn) having the chutzpah to compare skinnyLang to Joe Thomas, lol

Vikings, Eagles, Cowboys, Giants, Falcons, Dolphins, and Patriot games.

If that twiggy is playing LT for the whole game, it is a bet on those games.

Don't worry, if the best the Packers have at LT is Clifton, you'll lose at most two of those weeks. And I'll be happy to give you a couple waivers. :)

I like Lang. A lot.

I do not like putting serious eggs in the "potential" basket. Ever.

Especially since the Packers have, in the Thompson era, been burned on OL "potential" way too many times: Barbre; Colledge -- multiple times; Coston -- multiple times; Spitz -- multiple times. Other names that I've forgotten.

Potential is good only if you have numbers to play with. If Thompson wants to play with the potential basket, he ought to have lots and lots of eggs. Not putting his hope in one guy "developing", no matter how much he or I might like that one guy (Lang).

I like Lang a lot. I like him at RT. Pack93z doesn't like Lang at RT because he is almost drinking buddies with Tausch, and doesn't want to see Tausch pushed out of a job. He's not admitting any of that, but that's what's going on here... :pottytrain2:

BTW... can anyone tell me why they think Lang can't play left tackle?

Is it because he struggled a little bit there this season.. is that really fair as he was bounced around like a pogo ball?

"dfosterf" wrote:

I will start with the most obvious "concern".

I don't like the Vikings...I'm funny that way.

Week 4 22 snaps at LT gave up 2 sacks and a pressure, week 8 same opponent , gave up 3 sacks and 2 pressures....

I think Aaron plays "jumpy" when he's there, and I think his (Aaron's) "concerns" are legit, what with him not wanting to get BLIND-SIDE KILLED, and all....

"pack93z" wrote:

I kinda have a problem basing a conclusion on him through weeks 1-10 because the whole oline was having problems during that span. So say lang comes in after week 10 when the whole line starts to play better does he still have those problems?

I don't know, but he asked for some concerns, I gave him some concrete ones with Lang playing the position. The question is far better couched (imo) as, are you willing to bet he would not when he is protecting your QB's blindside? We are talking about the 2nd most important position on a football team here, the guy that is responsible for facing the best that each team has to offer to defeat him, again, to get to that QB's blindside.

If Lang has his growing pains from the right side, Aaron Rodgers CAN SEE THE GUY COMING!!!

The measurables missing is arm length. Lang has very short arms. I think he measured the shortest arm length of all the Tackles at last years combine. That is why I question his ability at LT.

LT's have to have the arm length to get on those speed rushers. If they don't have the arm length you struggle with leverage. In other words you would have to move your feet to cut off the rusher. If you have to get your feet left and back more than normal to get hands on the rusher it opens up the spin move to the inside.

I think the guy can handle a bull rush. Unfortunately, we play the Vikes twice and other guys that will come off his outside shoulder hard. I know on a couple of occasions last year he got beat on the spin and I think that comes from trying to get out and protect the outside.

Short arms, unlike a weight issue, is something extremely hard to overcome. Getting his hands on the rusher and being prepared to change direction will take incredible feet.

I'm not convinced and like I have said I think we are putting a very good OL in the position he would have the least success. That to me says they need to find another answer.

Everybody seems to know his weight, his arm length, and other measurables at the combine.

How the fuck did they get those at the combine when he wasn't even

AT THE FRIGGIN' COMBINE.....

lol lol lol

Sorry, but sometimes I gotta point this kinda shit out.

This isn't a rag on you Warhawk, because I also happen to know that when you search for those measurables, many of the "hits" will say something about "combine results" or some-such...(plus he DOES have short arms for a LT)

Which brings us to my MAJOR point...

Some want to trust our franchise QB to a guy that wasn't even deemed good enough to get an invite to the combine.

He has been surprisingly good for a rook. Hell, he was able to play with the rest of our suck-ass line most of the season.

I proclaim blind green and gold homerism, coupled with wishful thinking, if this is the caliber and pedigree that we should now trust at LT.

I'm worse than you. I like him a lot. But I don't care what position I might or should like him at. Right now, we're still relying too much on his "potential" rather than his proven performance. And that means we need other bodies.

Until the number of contending training camp OLmen passes 15, I'm not buying any "potential" argument.

Foster is moderately unreasonable. I'm completely unreasonable.

And just so Rourke doesn't feel left out ...

dfosterf (16-Apr) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (16-Apr) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
