I don't know the numbers side of things, but if the Pack has a good draw for filling the stadium and sells a lot of merchandise, if we go to a no-salary-cap season, do we keep our earnings or do we still send some percentage back to the league? I'd like to think that a no-cap season, combined with teams funding themselves that the Pack would become one of the dominating teams.

I don't know if these two issues are combined, though, salary cap, and the profitable teams carrying the non-profitable teams (via the NFL tax).

Your thoughts?

If we go no cap then only teams that spend will benefit, (obviously). the Pack wil be in a position if the NFL tax is eliminated. I don't foresee our leadership spending big bucks though. I would bet that Dallas and Washington would become the big spenders. I think that mostly depends upon ownership style.

I think if we are talking about short term health.. the Packers will do fine in the uncapped environment that is being discussed.

Where I worry is the long term with salaries escalating past the revenue scale that can effectively house the Packers in Wisconsin without drastic change in the demographics of whom can afford to go to the games or hold season tickets.

I think the NFL is treading into mistake filled waters if either the Player Union or the Owners think it is a wise idea to forgo the idea of revenue sharing and or caps on the rosters... we don't need another baseball.

Just because I spend oodles of money does not give a team nothing.
Jerry Jones Dan Snyder and the like will spend nearly all revinues just to get to the dance at first but as each teams fails and gets into finacial straights we will see a cap come back.

Football != baseball. You can try to buy a Championship but that doesn't work. Team beats individual players. Heck, let's look at the teams in the past 10 years who had the most Pro Bowlers that season and see how many times they were the same team that won the Super Bowl.
