The season is not over by any stretch of the imagination. But I believe it is time for a sense of urgency. We have played one good game IMO all season (against the 1-3 Vikings). There are so many reasons for this record, TT, MM, o-line, RB (though Grant did awesome today IMO), d-line, etc. But can people please stop saying "we suck, but Rodgers had 3 TD's and 300 yards".

Aaron Rodgers has played well. He's nothing great, nothing terrible. I'm sick of hearing about his QB rating and his TD numbers, etc. WHO CARES. We're 2-3. We lost 3 games all regular season last year. Statistics are so useless, what matters is wins and losses and thats it.

Statistics are affected by so many factors. For example if the other team is playing prevent defence and then you go score (i.e. gaining 100+ yards against Dallas when the other team has left the stadium). Or based on missed tackles or running instead of passing on the 3 yard line, etc. Who cares is all I'm saying.

At the end of the day this is what I care about:

Down 23-21 against the Bucs in the 4th quarter, 2+ mins left and picked off.

Down 20-17 against the Falcons in the 4th quarter, picked off.

He's played well. But he has made his share of mistakes and this 2-3 record has just as much to do with him as the rest of the team. A great QB gets you down the field in at least one of the games and wins you the game. He hasn't been great, he hasn't been bad. Those are two winnable games. Who cares about statistics is all I'm saying.

Give his due, he's played great at times and especially considering the amount of pressure he was in before this season. But please give him the share of the blame too.

I just think it is stunning that people are blaming the O-line or the Defence, etc for this loss but not mentioning Rodgers. This makes NO sense. 20-17 IN THE FOURTH AND YOU THROW A BRUTAL INT IN YOUR OWN END THAT LEADS TO 27-17, you are a BIG part of the blame. You had the game in your hands and you failed. The O-line was FINE on that play, he had all day, it wasn't their fault. If he wnet down and won, he would have got all the praise, so give him some of the blame. Be objective.

Sorry, didn't notice there was another very similar topic. Please merge with Trippster's post on Rodgers.

That's a long way of saying that Rodgers should be held accountable for throwing that interception. I basically agree with you. He shares in the blame, but when you consider how well he played except for that interception, it's hard to put too much blame on him.

As for the Bucs game, he got blindsided as he released the ball, so I don't put that one on him at all. I would say the same thing if it was Favre who threw those pics. When the protection is bad, the QB is bound to throw a pick or two even if he's having a good day overall.

You're right he isn't blameless. But in the same breath that you say stats are meaningless, you highlight two instances where interceptions were thrown. On the interception against the Bucs, he had instant blindside pressure. Today, the 3rd and 19 (wherein the Falcons dropped 8 back into coverage) followed an intentional grounding play that featured -- gasp! -- instant blindside pressure.

That doesn't change the fact that Rodgers threw the pick on the next play. That's on him. All I'm trying to do is add a little subtext to the situation.
William Henderson didn't have to run people over. His preferred method was levitation.

He tried to force it. IT HAPPENS TO EVERY QB.

I see your point and I probably went a bit overboard and for that, that is my fault. And there are a lot of other reasons we're 2-3 too. Kerry Collins is 5-0, so its not all about your QB. But twice being down by 3 or less in the 4th and we failed. Your QB has to be part of the blame IMO.

I was just frustrated by the fact that so many people are putting so much blame on the defence and the o-line, etc and none on Rodgers and then pointing to his stats. He had the ball down 20-17 with 5 mins left in the 4th quarter. Even though its 3rd and 20, you don't need a first down and I could see if the throw was high risk but high reward or something.

BUT the throw was terrible and the choice was terrible. The Defence was on the bench at the time and IMO (just my opinion) o-line held their own on that play. If you want even more time, this is the NFL.

I'm sorry you just can't blame a QB that has thrown 3 TD passes a 109 Passer Rating and 313 yards. It's as simple as that. The Defense is allowing running backs to get about 180 yards a game. That's all there is to it. You don't stop the run, you don't win football games at this level.

I think we should just agree to disagree, lol. I don't think I'm getting my piont across clearly, so lets just forget about it. I'm not saying that the loss was only Rodgers fault. There are many reasons, the o-line and the pass defence is certainly part of it. Not to mention the punter, coaching, penalites, etc. But its just IMO, to not include Rodgers (as part of the reason we lost - not THE reason) when he throws an INT like that, I don't get it.

It's a tough league. Being a QB is tough. But 5 mins left, down 3, in the 4th quarter at home. Your expected to win. If you don't and especially when you throw an INT like that, your deserve SOME of the blame - just like Favre would be jumped on for something like that.

He is 24 years old. He is in his first year as a starter. He as played very well under the pressure the former Q.B. put on him by wanting to come back. He has played injured.

And..... He has taken ownership of his mistakes with amazing mature accountablity.

At this point... I could not be more pleased or expect anything more from him.
