This is an all-time cool singing voice, even though it is so very "corny" to many, and I wouldn't argue it.

The reason it is an all-time cool voice is because of the context in which America found out about it.

All my fellow geezers know who this is.

Gomer Pyle, USMC.

They also learned (subsequent to this performance) that Jim Nabors had one hell of a voice.

They found that out in this episode of "Gomer Pyle, USMC." Most Americans thought it was dubbed at the time. That is what makes it cool.

The disparity between his "acting voice" and his role in comparison to this was truly stunning to all who viewed it.

I say "Shazaam, Gomer!"

I a mtechnologically illiterate, and do not know how to cut/paste yourube stuff to a message. That said, go check out the following:

Good to see Nightwish getting props. I was unfortunately unaware of that band until 2004. By then, Tarja and Tuomas have already begun to fight. Needless to say, the only time I saw them live was with their new singer, who is very pop. I ****** hate pop with a passion. I like this new singer and I'm sure she's a wonderful person but she's no Tarja.

Nightwish and Opeth are head and shoulders above any band today when it comes to pure talent.

not a fan of musical/opera/rock/whatever this is. i've studied music most of my life, played in symphonies in several states, & i enjoy music in it's purest form. anything that sounds even remotely synthesized is like fingernails on a chalkboard to me.

gimme some willie, waylon, sinatra, billie holliday, vince gill, a great military band, and/or an amazing orchestra & i'm happy.
